Job summary

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or communications related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years management experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, InDesign and/or Mac applications.
  • Prior sports and entertainment industry experience preferred.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and technically minded; demonstrate excellent follow-through.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions; possess strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative and proactive problem solver.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and selected holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Execute a comprehensive communications strategy that advances the organization’s corporate business objectives and off-court initiatives.
  • Manage strategic communications planning for business operations, partnerships, community impact, and non-basketball events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and industry media to secure impactful earned media opportunities.
  • Develop and pitch compelling story ideas and feature opportunities that elevate the organization’s business, brand, community, and venue initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments across the organization to ensure communications strategies support key business priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across all touchpoints, including corporate communications, business initiatives, community programs, Toyota Center events, and executive platforms.
  • Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and emerging issues to identify opportunities and communications strategy.
  • Measure and evaluate communications effectiveness through media reporting, analytics, and strategic insights to continuously optimize performance.
