Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall clinical management of referral and initial assessment process flow with Division Senior Leadership.
  • Direct supervision of externs in clinical settings and coordinate their training experiences.
  • Serve as first point of contact for patients, ensuring compassionate and efficient care and initial screening/triage.
  • Provide short-term psychotherapeutic treatments (up to one year postpartum when needed).
  • Deliver psychotherapy and care coordination with supervision taking up to 80% effort.
  • Track all patient referrals, dispositions, and contacts; interface with Epic for QI and research initiatives.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Columbia University Irving Medical Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks a Senior Manager, Clinical Services (LCSW or LMSW) to play a key role in shaping our new integrated, insurance-based, mental health program via the overall management of the intake/assessment process and provision of evidenced-based psychotherapies for patients in the department. Our ideal candidate will have a keen interest in women’s mental health across the life course and/or experience with a perinatal population; have significant psychotherapy experience as well as an investment in the practice of it; be a team player yet also confident in their ability to make independent clinical judgments for the team if necessary; be well organized and enthusiastic about a role as ‘the face of the program’ in terms of point of contact for clinical staff, patients, and referring providers. Must have experience relevant to the role of managing high volume of referrals and the supervision of the assessment process.

Responsibilities
  • Providing overall clinical management of referral and initial assessment process flow, working with Division Senior Leadership to ensure a responsible, consistent, patient experience.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of extern(s) in clinical setting as well as coordinating their overall training experience; liaison with sponsoring school regarding admin tasks related to training experiences in WMH@OBGYN clinical services.
  • Assuming the role of first point of contact for patients with the program and thus shaping their experience of it; it will be essential to provide compassionate and efficient care in all interactions that will include initial phone screening and triaging primarily to oneself or a colleague for a first consultation; these duties constitute care coordination and operations management of process.
  • Providing short-term psychotherapeutic treatments (up to one year postpartum when needed) for patients across the life course with a wide range of mental health issues.
  • Providing psychotherapy and care coordination with care coordination and supervision taking up to 80% effort.
  • Tracking all patient referrals, dispositions, and contact, interfacing with Epic personnel, to support QI initiatives and health services research in division.
  • Interface with department to provide emergency services as needed as well with research participants participating in studies for which Dr. Monk is PI.
  • Collaborating with other team members including administrative staff, medical students, residents, fellows, psychology and social work trainees and research staff.
  • Participating in peer psychotherapy supervision, providing supervision to trainees, documenting in the medical record and entering, as appropriate, charges for encounters and contributing to and initiating peer reviewed publications on WMH @ OBGYN clinical service utilizations and outcomes.
  • Collaborating with the Division Senior Leadership to implement new initiatives and complying with all HIPAA Regulations, as well as compliance & safety guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience plus 4 years of related experience required.
  • LMSW or LCSW.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OBGYN/women’s health experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to direct work, drive change and effectively collaborate.
  • 2-4 years recent psychotherapy experience with individual supervision.
  • Well versed at managing peers and monitoring operational processes.
Other Requirements
  • Upon hire, candidate will take all appropriate training including but not limited to EPIC, CPSC, and all compliance trainings.
  • If the candidate fails to pass the training modules, then access will not be granted or if previously granted will be revoked.
  • Additional trainings or continuing education may be required at manager’s discretion.
