Job summary

ARCO Companies seeks a Sr Manager, Accounting Systems and Operations to own and optimize accounting applications, data, and processes. You will partner with Accounting and Technology to translate business needs into effective system solutions, drive implementations, and improve controls and reporting.

You will lead a roadmap for enhancements, support, and automation, while developing accounting teams and ensuring user adoption across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, information systems, business, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in accounting operations, accounting systems, financial systems, business analysis, or related field.
• Experience leading accounting system implementations, enhancements, integrations, or process-improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of accounting processes, financial reporting, internal controls, and data requirements.
• Experience supporting enterprise accounting or ERP applications; experience with Vista or Viewpoint is preferred.
• Ability to translate accounting needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
• Experience with reporting, analytics, data validation, and process automation.
• Strong project leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience leading team members or cross-functional project teams.
• CPA, CMA, PMP, or another relevant certification is preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead the functional owner of accounting applications and serve as primary contact for the Financial team.
• Partner with Accounting leaders to identify system, reporting, data, and process needs.
• Translate needs into requirements, workflows, priorities, and plans for Technology teams and vendors.
• Maintain a roadmap for accounting system improvements, integrations, reporting, and automation.
• Lead implementations, enhancements, upgrades, testing, and adoption of accounting applications.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, reduce manual work, strengthen controls, and improve the user experience.
• Oversee accounting reporting and analytics for accurate financial and operational information.
• Establish standards for data quality, system use, and process ownership.
• Support integrations and resolve system issues; manage dependencies across applications.
• Coordinate issue prioritization and act as escalation point for complex concerns.
• Maintain process documentation, procedures, training resources, and internal control documentation.
• Lead change management, communication, and training related to accounting systems and processes.
• Lead and develop assigned accounting systems, operations, or analysis professionals.

ABOUT YOU

The Manager, Accounting Systems and Operations leads the improvement, support, and functional use of the systems, data, and processes supporting the Accounting function. This role serves as the primary connection between Accounting and Technology, helping translate business needs into effective system and process solutions.

The Manager oversees accounting application priorities, reporting, data quality, process improvement, testing, documentation, and user adoption. This role partners closely with Accounting leaders, Technology teams, vendors, and other business functions to ensure systems such as Vista, Keystyle, Textura, etc. support accurate financial operations, strong controls, and continued business growth.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Serve as the functional Financial team owner and primary contact for accounting applications.

• Partner with Accounting leaders to identify system, reporting, data, and process needs.
• Translate business needs into requirements, workflows, priorities, and implementation plans for Technology teams and vendors.
• Develop and partner with IT Financial Team to maintain a roadmap for accounting system improvements, integrations, reporting, and automation.
• Lead the business side of accounting application implementations, enhancements, upgrades, testing, and adoption.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, reduce manual work, strengthen controls, and improve the user experience.
• Oversee accounting reporting and analytics, ensuring leaders have access to accurate and useful financial and operational information.
• Establish standards for accounting data quality, system use, documentation, and process ownership.
• Partner with Technology teams to support integrations, resolve system issues, and manage dependencies across applications.
• Coordinate issue prioritization and serve as an escalation point for complex accounting system and process concerns.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, information systems, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Seven or more years of experience in accounting operations, accounting systems, financial systems, business analysis, or a related field.
• Experience leading accounting system implementations, enhancements, integrations, or process‑improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of accounting processes, financial reporting, internal controls, and data requirements.
• Experience supporting enterprise accounting or ERP applications; experience with Vista or Viewpoint is preferred.
• Ability to translate accounting needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
• Experience with reporting, analytics, data validation, and process automation.
• Strong project leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholdermanagement skills.
• Experience leading team members or cross‑functional project teams.
