Sr. Maintenance Technician - Blowmolder

The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. The role involves sharing knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators. The Sr. Maintenance Technician acts as a subject matter expert in areas such as injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing facilities and auxiliary equipment like chillers, air compressors, water filtration systems, and general plant maintenance. The technician works directly with Maintenance Technicians, machine Operators, Supervisors, and Managers to resolve mechanical issues and develops best practices aligned with Niagara’s maintenance strategies. They champion continuous improvement and assist in training in their focus areas.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to and enforce safety and good manufacturing practices plant-wide.
  • Train and lead Operators, Mechanics, and Supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed bottling and packaging.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership on projects involving improvements, upgrades, and problem resolution.
  • Identify machine problems rapidly to minimize downtime, conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross-functional problems.
  • Use software systems to analyze issues and improve throughput and performance.
  • Lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment during planned downtime.
  • Transfer knowledge to team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in areas such as blow molding, filling, labeling, and injection technology.
  • Create SOPs for troubleshooting machines and upload to BDA system; ensure machine reliability.
  • Maintain regular attendance and on-call availability to ensure equipment uptime.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment and in the specific position.
  • At least 4 years managing people or projects.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to read schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
  • Proficiency with shop equipment and precision measuring tools.
  • Willingness to serve as a technical leader and trainer.

Preferred qualifications include over 10 years’ experience, specific expertise in blow molding, injection molding, packaging, or beverage fields, and experience with major equipment brands like Krones, Husky, Sidel, etc.
