Sr. Maintenance Technician

The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. Shares knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators. Acts as a subject matter expert in areas such as injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. Performs troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment like chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, and other water filtration equipment. Collaborates with Maintenance Technicians, machine Operators, Supervisors, and Managers to resolve mechanical issues. Develops and implements best practices aligned with Niagara's maintenance strategies, champions continuous improvement, and assists in training.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to and enforce safety and good manufacturing practices plant-wide.
  • Train and lead Operators, Mechanics, and Supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.
  • Work with plant leadership on projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and problem resolution.
  • Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize downtime, conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross-functional problems.
  • Use available software to analyze issues and drive throughput performance.
  • Lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment during planned downtime.
  • Transfer knowledge to team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures for bottling and injection technology, including PET processing, mold systems, resin handling, and more.
  • Create SOPs for troubleshooting machines and upload them to the BDA system; ensure machine reliability.
  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance and on-call availability to maintain equipment and facility uptime.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 6+ years in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
  • 6+ years in the specific role.
  • 4+ years managing people/projects.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years in maintenance manufacturing.
  • Experience with packaging or bottling equipment like Krones, Husky, Sidel, etc.
  • Leadership experience and process improvement initiatives.

Additional skills include working with electrical systems, schematics, fabrication, and automation components.
