Job summary

BENTELER Steel/Tube division in the United States is seeking a Professional Maintenance Shift Supervisor to lead the maintenance team on a rotating schedule, ensuring high equipment availability and safe operations. The role requires coordinating repairs with operations and maintaining training standards for the team.

Candidates should have experience in predictive and preventative maintenance, familiarity with SAP, and a solid understanding of pumps, hydraulics, valves and rigging.

Qualifications

• Two or more years' experience as a shift supervisor or equivalent.
• Basic SAP and general computer knowledge required.
• Familiar with data acquisition systems such as IBA.
• Predictive and preventative maintenance concepts understood.
• Strong safety awareness and planning and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, plans, directs and coordinates the work activities of the maintenance shift team.
• Communicates regularly with operations shift leaders to identify equipment malfunctions and schedule repairs.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge in maintaining steelmaking machinery.
• Work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Set up repairs to ensure equipment availability and performance.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.
• Maintain training material and ensure ongoing training of the team.
• Align team goals with company directives and act as liaison with operations.
• Foster cooperation across departments and promote continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities

• Supervises, plans, directs and coordinates the work activities of the maintenance shift- team
• Communicates regularly with operations Shift leaders to identify equipment malfunctions and schedule delay time for repairs.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge, skills, and abilities in maintaining Steelmaking machinery.
• Ability to work rotating shift schedule including weekends, holidays.
• Setup the execution of repairs required to ensure operational equipment availability.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.
• Maintain proper and updated training material and ensure continuous training of the assigned employees to support highest performance requirements;
• Ensure that team goals are aligned with and representative of the overall company's directive.
• Act as liaison between the maintenance team and the operations team.
• Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
• Promote continuous improvement and standardization of maintenance programs and procedures.
• Ensure operation of equipment by making sure preventative maintenance is performed in a timely manner and that the equipment is maintained according to specifications
• Work closely and as a team with all employees.
• Be responsible for maintaining the organization of your respective maintenance work areas and keep the employees in those areas working efficiently.
• Set a positive example for other employees

Job Requirements

• Two (2) or more years prior experience as a shift supervisor (or equivalent role) is preferred.
• Basic SAP & general computer knowledge is required
• A basic understanding of data acquisition systems such as IBA is preferred.
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, of predictive and preventative maintenance.
• Advanced knowledge of pumps, hydraulics troubleshooting, pneumatics, valves, cutting welding, and rigging
• Strong safety awareness and experience;
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to organize and explain technical information in a clear manner.
• Detail oriented with proven, problem identification and resolution skills.
• Demonstrated capability of results through people, technology and process;
• Ability to work in a Team orientated atmosphere
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, coworkers and management
