Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Senior Maintenance Supervisor for its California Prepared Foods plant. You will lead maintenance technicians, coordinate with contractors, and ensure equipment reliability for safety and productivity.

You will implement cost-effective maintenance plans, manage safety programs, and mentor team members while upholding OSHA and PSM standards in a fast-paced food processing environment.

Qualifications

• Education beyond high school including special training, vocational school, or college courses.
• Completion of Tyson Level 8 training in the MT or ERT program is preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in Industrial Maintenance.
• Experience with Anhydrous Ammonia, Mechanical Refrigeration, and High-Pressure Boiler maintenance is preferred.
• Elementary computer skills (email, data entry, simple queries).
• Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year.
• Supervisory role managing a group of personnel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise maintenance for cost-effective and timely operation of all equipment.
• Direct, coordinate, and support maintenance personnel.
• Collaborate with contractors, vendors, or engineering for modifications or installations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems with equipment.
• Obtain quotes and prepare project justifications.
• Maintain records and ensure OSHA standards are implemented.
• Instruct on PPE use and safety practices.
• Improve ergonomics within the facility.
• Maintain compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
• Develop and mentor team members.
• Manage HP boiler, compressed air, hot water generation, and HVAC systems.
• Coordinate team schedules, attendance records, and monthly safety meetings.

This location is part of our Prepared Foods Division. As a Senior Maintenance Supervisor, you can expect your day to day to include being responsible for all aspects of plant maintenance coordination including leading and directing maintenance technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning and supervising the execution of cost effective and timely maintenance necessary for the operation of all equipment.
• Directing, coordinating, and supporting maintenance personnel.
• Working with contractors, vendors, or company engineering in the modification or installation of equipment.
• Troubleshooting and resolving new and or different technical problems regarding equipment.
• Obtains quotes for project work and prepares written project justifications.
• Maintaining relevant records and ensuring OSHA standards and programs are implemented.
• Instructing in the use of personal protective equipment.
• Implementing new ways of improving ergonomics within the facility.
• PSM: Maintaining compliance with Process Safety Management Standards.
• Skill development of team members.
• High Pressure Boiler Compressed Air System Hot Water Generation and HVAC systems management and maintenance.
• Coordinate Team Member schedules handling time and attendance records holding monthly safety meetings and performing other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Education beyond high school including special training vocational school and or college courses. Completion of the Tyson Level 8 training in the MT or ERT program is preferred.
• Experience: 3 plus years’ experience in Industrial Maintenance preferred. Experience with Anhydrous Ammonia Mechanical Refrigeration and High-Pressure Boiler maintenance and management is preferred.
• Computer Skills: Elementary computer skills; for example, checking electronic mail entering data into document templates or creating simple queries.
• Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year.
• Supervisory Skills: This position is responsible for supervising a group of personnel who perform somewhat identical and related tasks or activities.
