About This Role

The Sr. Maintenance Planner will be a pivotal part of our team, ensuring the efficient planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities for all assets (GMP and non-GMP) under the responsibility of the Research Triangle Park (RTP) Bio Maintenance and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) departments. Your expertise will enhance workforce productivity and quality execution of maintenance activities by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of Maintenance/I&C resources, parts, materials, equipment access, and documentation. The Sr. Maintenance Planner has strong knowledge of Work Management, GMP facilities, and Safety standards to support Maintenance/I&C, Engineering staff, and contractors. Additionally, this individual possesses a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems and equipment used in biotech manufacturing facilities, serving as the contact for all maintenance/I&C planning and scheduling activities, requests, and issues.

What You'll Do

  • Strategically plan, schedule, and coordinate all preventive and corrective maintenance activities within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maximize departmental efficiency and minimize manufacturing disruptions.
  • Review maintenance work orders, practices, and documentation regularly to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Engineers to review and optimize equipment JPs and PMs to enhance reliability.
  • Plan and coordinate End of Life (EoL) inspections with Production planning, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and contractors; develop work packages, align resources with production schedules, and establish maintenance schedules.
  • Prioritize work orders by identifying urgent requests and aligning them with equipment, spares, and resource availability, considering input from Manufacturing, Production planning, Maintenance, I&C, and operations teams.
  • Participate in shutdown planning activities, including scope development, scheduling, work preparation, risk assessment, progress reporting, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, GMP, and environmental standards and requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical or maintenance-related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance planning and scheduling within a pharmaceutical, biotech manufacturing, or related GMP facility.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in modern bio-pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of large industrial equipment such as air handlers, chillers, pumps, and boilers, and their components.
  • Proficiency in using CMMS (Infor).
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to recognize deviations from accepted practices and exercise judgment in problem resolution.
