Job summary

Greif is seeking a Sr. Maintenance Mechanic-Steel in Texas to ensure the reliability of plant machinery through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.

The role requires reading manuals, interpreting diagrams, and performing mechanical and electrical work with a focus on safety and Lean practices. The candidate will work with the maintenance team, troubleshoot hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives while supporting plant operations and

Qualifications

• Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) or technical training (associate’s degree) in an industrial related field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrates ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and work orders.
• Familiar with maintenance concepts (Corrective, Predictive and preventive).

Responsibilities

• Ensures reliability of machinery and equipment by completing preventive maintenance on machinery and systems.
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals, diagrams, sketches, engineering specifications, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Root cause analysis for major breakdowns on machines.
• Adheres to all plant safety policies and supports Lean Manufacturing programs.
• Provides guidance to junior maintenance colleagues.
• Manage Work orders on eMaint platform to report all executed tasks on the machines.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures reliability of machinery and equipment by completing preventive maintenance on machinery and systems.
• Performs tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals, diagrams, sketches, engineering specifications, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Uses hand tools and measuring instruments to determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts.
• Define mechanical clearance and tolerances between shaft, bearings and couplings.
• Root cause analysis for major breakdowns on machines.
• Assembles, installs, adjusts, and calibrates mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment. Dismantles, repairs, rebuilds, and replaces equipment and parts as needed.
• Adheres to all plant safety policies. Participates in plant-wide safety, housekeeping, Operational Excellence, and Lean Manufacturing programs.
• Provides assistance and guidance to junior maintenance colleagues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Manage Work orders on eMaint platform to report all executed tasks on the machines.
• Perform preventive maintenance and propose improvements in the actual way of executing the tasks.
• Expert on pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, read and interpret circuits for troubleshooting and parts replacement.
• Expert on different types of bearing, and their mechanical applications.
• Rebuilt gearboxes and pneumatic clutches.
• Replace Servo motors.

Education and Experience

• Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) or technical training (associate’s degree) in an industrial related field such us: Industrial Maintenance tech, Millwright or Mechatronics technician and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  

Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrates ability to select and operate appropriate hand, power and specialty tools and diagnostic equipment to complete job tasks.
• Possesses an operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery, and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Demonstrates ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and work orders.
• Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively communicate issues and solutions to team members.
• Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Possesses the ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, and reassemble manufacturing equipment.
• Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrates the ability to work effectively under limited supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software.
• Must be proficiency on written and speaking English, Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Basic electrical knowledge (multimeter use): must be familiar with 480 VAC 3 phases motors, replace contactors, fuses breakers, etc.
• Familiar with machine manual/drawings to execute preventive maintenance and order parts needed for corrective and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Familiar with Maintenance concepts (Corrective, Predictive and preventive).
• Experience working on Drum Manufacturing will be a plus.
• Experience with CMMS Software.

Compensation Range:

The pay for this position is $39.34 per hour. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
