Job summary

System Soft Technologies is seeking a skilled mainframe developer to design, build, and maintain COBOL applications within a z/OS environment. You will work on CICS online processing, batch jobs, and source control using GitHub while coordinating with teams on deployments and issue resolution.

The role emphasizes strong debugging, collaboration, and adherence to CI/CD practices in an Agile setting, with focus on reliability and production support.

Qualifications

• COBOL: strong hands-on programming and debugging experience.
• CICS: experience developing and maintaining online TP applications.

• GitHub: source control, branching/merging, collaboration experience.
• JCL: knowledge of executing and managing mainframe batch jobs.
• Mainframe Environment: experience with IBM z/OS systems.
• Testing and Debugging: troubleshoot issues, analyze abends, production fixes.

Required Technical Skills

• COBOL: Strong hands-on experience in COBOL programming, debugging, and application development.
• CICS: Experience developing and maintaining online transaction processing applications.
• Batch Processing: Experience developing and supporting batch programs, job execution, scheduling, and troubleshooting.
• GitHub: Experience with source code repositories, version control, branching, merging, and code collaboration.
• JCL: Knowledge of Job Control Language for executing and managing mainframe batch jobs.
• Mainframe Environment: Experience working with IBM z/OS mainframe systems.
• Testing and Debugging: Ability to troubleshoot application issues, analyze abends, and resolve production defects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DB2, VSAM, and SQL.
• Familiarity with mainframe utilities and job scheduling tools.
• Experience with tools such as Endevor, Changeman, or similar source code management and deployment tools.
• Knowledge of mainframe application integration and production support processes.
• Experience working in Agile development environments and using CI/CD practices.
