Job summary

University of California - Los Angeles Health's Hematology/Oncology Community Clinics seek a licensed vocational nurse to provide direct patient care for a diverse patient population in collaboration with faculty physicians, fellows, residents, nursing staff, patient services staff, and ancillary personnel.

Salary range: $38.54/hr - $50.84/hr. This on-site role requires IV therapy, blood withdrawal, BLS, CPR, and strong teamwork skills in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the California Board of Vocational Nursing Examiners with IV therapy and blood withdrawal.
• BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross.
• Knowledge of instruments and supplies for examinations and procedures.
• Ability to take vital signs, administer meds, and obtain refills.
• Ability to recognize abnormal labs and report to the physician.
• Knowledge of symptomatology of common and life-threatening medical problems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with physicians, staff, and health providers.
• CPR competency.
• Keyboard literacy to input data in computerized systems.
• Competency in IV skills.
• Punctuality and good attendance.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds or more.
• Ability to submit quality work promptly.

Qualifications

Required:

• Possess license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners with IV therapy and blood withdrawal.
• Possession of BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures.
• Ability to take vital signs, administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed.
• Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician.
• Knowledge of symptomatology of common and or life-threatening medical problems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in maintaining a cooperative working environment with the physicians, staff, and all health providers.
• Skill to perform CPR.
• Keyboard literacy skills to access and input data in computerized logging systems.
• Competency in IV skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be punctual and maintain good attendance.
• Ability to push, pull, or carry a minimum of 30 pounds or more.
• Skill and knowledge to submit quality work in a timely manner.
