Sr. Loss Control Consultant - Technical Property

Loss Control Consultant – Technical Property Accounts
Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct property loss control inspections of high hazard industries such as Oil & Petrochemical, Chemical, Power Generation, Pulp and Paper, Steel/Molten Metal, Electronics, and Process Industries.
  • Evaluate sprinkler systems, review building additions and fire alarm plans, and provide guidance to clients.
  • Perform engineering account reviews for underwriters, participate in account/broker meetings, and deliver presentations.
  • Maintain own schedule and prepare survey reports.
  • Provide guidance to underwriting staff regarding risk quality and insurability.
  • Keep inspection records up-to-date in the database.
  • Work involves approximately 65% on-site surveys and risk evaluations, 10% client meetings, 10% account management, 5% presentations, and 10% general consulting.
  • Travel primarily regionally with 25-40% overnight stays.
  • This is a remote position but requires proximity to the office for occasional visits. A company car is provided.
Skills and Experience / Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably chemical, mechanical, or fire protection).
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as an engineer in Oil/Petrochemical, Midstream, Chemical industries, or performing property loss control inspections for insurance, consulting, or brokerage firms.
  • Technical knowledge of 29 CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management is required, including evaluation of Mechanical Integrity, Equipment Inspections, MOC, PHA, LOPA, SIF/SIL/SIS, and PSSR.
  • Understanding of sprinkler and fire alarm systems, process hazards, and loss prevention codes (NFPA, FM, API, ASME, etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication, writing, organizational, customer relation, public speaking, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer operations and software such as Word and Excel.
