Job Description:

Sr. Litigation Adjuster (Michigan PIP) - Meemic

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review assigned claims, contact the insured and other affected parties, set expectations, and document in the claim handling system.
  • Complete coverage analysis on complex claims and ensure all policyholder benefits are identified.
  • Create sub-claims if needed and investigate claim facts to determine payment, limits, exclusions, and recovery potential.
  • Review damages, determine applicability of laws, evaluate financial loss, and approve payments.
  • Refer claims to other units when necessary and document all activities thoroughly.
  • Utilize strong negotiation skills.

Senior Claim Specialists in the PIP unit handle claims involving catastrophic injuries and attorney-represented cases, requiring proficiency with MCCA and related claims.

Work Environment: Currently remote with potential for occasional travel, subject to policy changes.

Competitive salary of $72,737.60 - $96,969.60 annually with bonus potential, plus benefits including:

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Complete ACG Claim Representative Training or equivalent experience.
  • Eligible for State Adjuster's license within 90 days if required.
  • Valid State Driver's License.

Experience:

  • At least five years in complex claim negotiation, evidence evaluation, estimates, subrogation, coverage resolution, and statement taking.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of insurance laws, subrogation, arbitration, and litigation.
  • Understanding of negligence law, no-fault law, medical terminology, and MCCA claims.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to handle claims per standards, follow policies, use claim systems, review files, communicate effectively, build relationships, analyze problems, prioritize tasks, and manage time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or related work experience.
  • Insurance credentials like CPCU or completion of related courses.
