Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a senior designer to create piping and equipment layouts using AutoCAD, Plant 3D and CADWorx. You will perform field verifications, survey data collection, and coordinate with engineering and field teams to support petrochemical projects.

Responsibilities include designing new piping systems, retrofits, equipment locations, and ensuring documentation aligns with client guidelines. Onsite work and extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

• A.A.S. or Vocational Tech School with focus on Drafting Technology preferred.
• Autodesk Plant 3D and CADWorx required.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Design/Drafting.
• Experience in Petrochemical, Specialty Chemicals, Refinery.
• Onsite project experience required.
• Must communicate effectively with Engineering/Design and Field personnel.

Job description

• Position will utilize AutoCAD 14 (or higher), Autodesk Plant 3D and CADWorx
• Projects will include new piping systems and retrofit projects
• Design of existing and new equipment locations, pipe routing, pipe supports, foundations, structural steel and existing interferences
• Designer will pull measurements, perform surveying and may use high def laser scanning
• Designer will evaluate Scope of Work utilizing P&IDs and Piping Systems Design Specifications
• Position will utilize knowledge in Mechanical Equipment and Piping Systems
• Designer will perform field investigations and equipment/layout verification
• Designer will ensure appropriate documentation is maintained per client guidelines

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A.A.S. or Vocational Tech School with focus on Drafting Technology preferred
• Required: Autodesk Plant 3D and CADWorx
• Minimum (10) years’ experience in Design/Drafting
• Experience in Checking role is preferred
• Experience must include onsite assignment(s)
• Experience working on projects in Petrochemical, Specialty Chemicals, Refinery
• Field experience is required
• Knowledge of construction methods and installation of equipment
• Depth of knowledge in industry design standards to comply with federal, state and local guidelines
• Must be able to effectively communicate with Engineering/Design Personnel as well as Construction/Field personnel
• Must be able to lift and carry up to (25) lbs.
• Schedules may include extended work hours
• Basic Safety Training and TWIC are preferred
