Job summary

Intone Networks Inc. in Torrance, California, is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a 12-month contract.

You will build cloud-native backend solutions and support digital experiences across applications—from design through production. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and optimizing microservices and RESTful APIs on AWS using Lambda, API Gateway, EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, and security best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience with backend focus on Java/J2EE.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Hibernate.
• Proven expertise designing and developing cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Proficiency in microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
• Experience with event-driven systems and serverless application development.

Responsibilities

This is a 12-month contract position for a Senior Java Developer based in Torrance, California. You will deliver exceptional support to develop meaningful digital experiences and strengthen customer experience across all digital applications—from design and development through production support and solutioning.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support cloud-native applications on AWS, utilizing services such as Lambda, API Gateway, EKS, ECS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Amazon MQ, MSK (Kafka), CloudWatch, and IAM.
• Architect and implement microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and serverless applications with a strong understanding of distributed systems design principles.
• Develop backend solutions using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, and related open-source frameworks.
• Work with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database solutions, including Amazon RDS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB.
• Apply cloud security and application security best practices, including IAM, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, secrets management, encryption, and secure API design.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize performance in large-scale production environments.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum teams, contribute to architecture discussions, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on backend development using Java/J2EE
  • Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Hibernate
  • Demonstrated expertise designing and developing cloud-native applications on AWS
  • Proficiency in microservices architecture and RESTful API design
  • Experience with event-driven systems and serverless application development
  • Strong understanding of Java fundamentals, JVM internals, concurrency, and multithreading
  • Experience with functional programming concepts such as Lambda Expressions, Streams API, and CompletableFuture
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of cloud security and application security best practices
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and performance tuning skills in production environments
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams

• Preferred

  • Proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI/LLM concepts including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and agentic workflows
