Job description

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

As Senior IT Systems Administrator 1, you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and advancing our IT infrastructure. This role offers an experienced professional the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our biotechnology company's continued success.

About You

You are a seasoned IT systems administrator with a strong foundation in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline — ideally holding certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+. You bring advanced experience in systems administration, including complex troubleshooting and team leadership. You are well-positioned to lead the strategic planning, design, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise IT systems.

Your proficiency in compute hardware, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and software applications ensures the scalability, reliability, and performance of critical infrastructure. You approach problems proactively, apply patches and security fixes with discipline, and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences. You thrive in collaborative environments and take pride in mentoring junior staff and end-users.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, install, configure, and maintain complex IT systems, servers, virtualization environments, and associated hardware and software.
  • Support data center operations, including rack and stack activities, hardware lifecycle management, environmental monitoring, and coordination with facilities and vendors to ensure continuous availability and operational integrity.
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of IT infrastructure components.
  • Provide expert-level technical support, resolving complex hardware and software issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve intricate technical challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of production changes and oversee all maintenance implementations.
  • Manage user account creation, permissions, and access controls in compliance with company policies.
  • Supervise and continuously improve employee onboarding and offboarding workflows.
  • Maintain comprehensive hardware and software inventory records, including license tracking.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Implement and maintain IT security measures, including antivirus, firewalls, data encryption, intrusion detection, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Serve as an analyst in security incident response and remediation efforts.
  • Proactively evaluate and apply software updates, patches, and security fixes to maintain system stability.
  • Manage corporate data backup and recovery operations.
  • Partner with IT and cross-departmental teams to ensure seamless operations aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Mentor, train, and guide junior IT staff and end-users.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience supporting the following platforms and tools:
    • Microsoft Sentinel, Purview, Defender, DLP
    • Microsoft / M365 Stack / Entra ID and Enterprise Application SSO
    • JAMF and Intune
    • Tanium
    • BeyondTrust EPM
    • SentinelOne
    • ReliaQuest GreyMatter
  • Proficiency in managing enterprise compute and storage hardware, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and software applications.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to systems management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Service-oriented team player with the ability to adapt to rapidly evolving priorities and challenges.

At Eikon, employee compensation also includes bonus and equity compensation, in addition to several generous benefit programs, including:
