Job description

Senior IT Support Engineer

Hybrid - San Francisco / Remote

About Brave

Brave is on a mission to protect the human right to privacy online. We’ve built a free web browser that blocks creepy ads and trackers by default, a private search engine with a truly independent index, a browser-native crypto wallet, and a private ad network (opt-in!) that directly rewards you for your attention. And we’re just getting started. Already 50 million people have switched to Brave for a faster, more private web. Millions more switch every month.

The internet is a sea of ads, hackers, and echo chambers. Big Tech makes huge profits off our data, and tells us what’s true and what’s not. Brave is fighting back. Join us!

Summary

As an IT Support Engineer, you'll need to have excellent customer service, troubleshooting, and communication skills, as well as the ability to talk tech with clients at all levels.

The ideal candidate is passionate about learning new technologies and has the ability to work independently and self-motivate in a professional but fun environment. Remaining cool under pressure is essential.

Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Diagnose and solve complex software, hardware and networking issues including MacOS, Windows and Linux.
  • A/V Support using Brave Talk, in house and remote
  • User account management such as onboarding / offboarding staff members, modifying access permissions, periodic audits of access controls, and user credential management
  • Hardware and Software Inventory Control and Purchasing and shipping.
  • Managing user software such as backups
  • Creating clear and concise documentation in the form of runbooks, tutorials, technical tips, and knowledge based articles.
  • Doing security reviews of our vendors and responding to customer security inquiries that relate to IT
Requirements
  • Experience implementing corporate security controls such as those required for SOC 2
  • Experience with Google Suite Admin to help us implement tooling around user management.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, and the ability to talk tech with our staff at all levels (and ensure they understand what you're saying!)
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite, Slack, GitHub.
  • Deep knowledge of operating systems such as Mac OS, Windows, and Linux
  • Experience doing internal security audits
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills in both physical workspaces (e.g., cable management, equipment storage) and managing digital workflows, including task tracking and documentation
Working at Brave
  • Industry-leader in privacy, with a research and engineering team that’s innovating everyday to keep people safer online and beat Big Tech
  • Highly competitive salaries & benefits, and generous home-office stipends
  • Welcoming, humble, ridiculously smart teammates, and a truly flat org structure
  • Opportunity to get in early at a hyper-growth company, and revolutionize the web
  • Oh, and did we mention Brendan, our CEO & co-founder, invented JavaScript?

Compensation

  • Salary for this role is in the 105-120K range depending upon experience.
