Role Overview

Senior Finance Business Analyst – Bridge finance and technology functions to enhance financial reporting, reconciliation, and control initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements related to:
  • Financial close and reconciliation processes
  • Statutory and GAAP financial reporting
  • Intercompany, reinsurance, and allocation workflows
  • Finance controls, audit support, and data lineage
• Translate accounting and finance requirements into:
  • User stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Functional specifications for reports, interfaces, and data solutions
  • Test cases and UAT scenarios supporting control validation and business outcomes
• Partner with Finance and Accounting teams to:
  • Evaluate upstream and downstream system impacts
  • Identify data quality issues, process gaps, and control risks
  • Support production investigations related to financial results and reporting
• Collaborate with developers, QA teams, and data professionals to ensure solutions meet standards for:
  • Financial accuracy
  • Data completeness
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Auditability and controls

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of related professional experience.
• Experience with data analysis and business systems.
• Proficiency with SQL, Microsoft Office, and data manipulation tools.
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies and procedures.
• 5+ years as a Business Analyst supporting Finance or Accounting organizations.
• Direct experience within an insurance carrier environment (P&C, Life, Health, or Specialty).
• Experience supporting: Statutory (STAT) and/or GAAP reporting, financial close and reconciliation processes, intercompany accounting, reinsurance accounting operations.
• Proven ability to translate accounting and financial reporting requirements into technical solutions and IT deliverables.
• Experience partnering with Controllers, Financial Reporting teams, Accounting Policy groups, Auditors, and other Finance leaders.
