Job summary

McKesson Corporation is hiring a Sr. IT Architect for 100% telecommuting from any location in the U.S. The role leads design and implementation of modern architecture, guiding engineers to deliver scalable, reliable services. Requires 7+ years (7y) of relevant experience or 5y with a Master’s degree, strong backend/frontend and cloud skills.

The position offers competitive pay and travel up to 10% domestically. You’ll work on high-impact projects shaping health tech at a Fortune 10 company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with seven years of exp in the job offered or related occupation.
• Master's degree in CS/EE or related field with five years of exp in the job offered or related occupation.
• Five years demonstrated experience in designing, developing, implementing, testing, deploying and maintaining web applications.
• Two years demonstrated experience in Java, ReactJS, Gradle, Kafka, Python 3.10+, Spring Boot, SQL/NoSQL databases and cloud tech.
• Experience in web frontend tech: JavaScript, React, Angular, NodeJS, HTML/CSS.
• Agile methodology and full software development lifecycle.
• Translating requirements into architecture and design.
• High performance, scalable, available systems; event-driven architectures.
• Public cloud environments: Azure, GCP, AWS; Azure services like AKS, Functions, Event Hubs.
• RESTful APIs design and cloud security; Docker and Kubernetes for scalable architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead innovation, design and implementation of new architecture and solutions.
• Scale services by designing standard methodologies and repeatable processes.
• Coach engineers to deliver highly available, reliable, and scalable products.
• Oversee architecture and governance of critical, high-availability systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery.

JOB DUTIES:

Leading the innovation, design and implementation of new architecture and solutions using modern architecture patterns. Designing and implementing standard methodologies and repeatable process constructs to scale and harden our services ecosystem. Leading and coaching software engineers to deliver highly available, reliable, scalable, and high-quality solutions. Accountable for architecture and oversight of highly available, highly reliable products. 100% telecommuting allowed from any location in the U.S. 10% domestic travel required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

ALTERNITAVELY

Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Applicant must have five (5) years demonstrated experience in each of the following:

• Designing, developing, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining web applications.

Applicant must have two (2) years demonstrated experience in each of the following:

• Java, ReactJS, Gradle, Confluent/Kafka, Python 3.10 or later, Spring boot, Struct, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SOLR, Elastic, MongoDB, K8S/GKE/AKS, Docker Swarm, and Jenkins/Github Actions/Github Advanced Security.
• Web front-end development technologies using JavaScript, React, Angular, NodeJs, and HTML/CSS.
• Agile methodology.
• All phases of software development including design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and source management.
• Translating sophisticated functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
• Designing systems with high performance, scalability and availability.
• Creating and implementing event driven architectures.
• Public cloud environments Azure, GCP, and AWS.
• Multiple Azure services using AKS, Azure Functions, and Azure Event Hubs.
• Designing and building RESTful APIs and managing cloud application security.
• Docker and Kubernetes and scalable system architecture, resilience, and performance optimization.

OFFERED WAGE:

$156,998 - $189,500/year
