Role: Sr. iSeries Programmer

Location: Offshore - India

Duration: Long Term

UK shift

Skills:

.RPG and the AS/400. RPG Free, RPG, RPGLE, CL, CLLE, SQL RPGLE, Aldon, and embedded SQL.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze, design, develop, and maintain iSeries applications software utilizing RPG, RPG ILE, RPG-FREE, and SQL languages.
  2. Take programming projects through to completion according to project standards and user satisfaction.
  3. Apply appropriate enterprise methodologies and standards for software development and execution.
  4. Provide analytical and problem-solving expertise to resolve business and systems issues.
  5. Identify and recommend solutions for gaps in business processes and systems.
  6. Support QA in developing integration test plans, test conditions, and expected results.
  7. Act as a technical mentor and train staff as appropriate; translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
  8. Interact with vendors and service providers regarding systems and business processes.
  9. Stay updated with business trends, standards, and best practices, contributing to continuous improvement.
  10. Produce high-quality code, accurate project estimations, creative solutions, and trade-off analyses.
  11. Provide formal weekly status reports.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience with RPG Free, RPG, RPGLE, CL, CLLE, SQL RPGLE, Aldon, and embedded SQL.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field.
  3. Minimum 10 years of software development experience as a programmer.
  4. At least 8 years of experience developing with RPG and the AS/400.
  5. Healthcare domain experience is a plus.
  6. Experience with structured SDLC including source control, QA, and release management.
  7. Experience working with third-party vendors.
  8. Self-motivated, curious, creative, and passionate about emerging technologies.
  9. Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences at all organizational levels.
