Global Engineering Services (GES) NA Ops Engineering is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineering project leader to lead initiatives in developing and delivering next-generation, world-class sortation and transportation systems. This position will impact Concept Design and Firm Engineering processes through work in the Technical Vendor Management (TVM) pillar.

We’re looking to add a few high-impact engineers to our team. You will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for sortation and distribution systems, including greenfield projects, brownfield upgrades, and retrofits, such as automated fulfillment centers, cross-dock facilities, and transportation centers.

You will work with highly skilled engineers in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment, managing hundreds of projects annually. You will be challenged, learn, grow, and work on high-impact, high-visibility projects.

This role requires up to 25% travel and the ability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance to the office, with relocation assistance potentially available.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the sortation and transportation network, considering equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property.
  2. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions rapidly.
  3. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, influencing, negotiating, and communicating effectively with business partners, contractors, and vendors.
  4. Communicate effectively to execute the vision, detailed roadmap, and technical solutions, making compelling business cases to senior executives.
  5. Travel up to 25% globally to interact with internal and external leaders.

About The Team

The Technical Vendor Management Team acts as a strategic voice from GES to vendors, managing MHE vendor performance and resolving systemic issues. Locations include Bay Area, CA; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Austin, TX; Los Angeles Metro Area; Phoenix Metro Area; Arlington VA; Bellevue, WA; Seattle, WA; Boston Metro Area; Nashville, TN; New York City; Atlanta Metro Area; Chicago, IL.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Fulfillment/Distribution Center/Sort Center Hub operations.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and manage change.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Project, CAD software.
  • Technical leadership experience in large-scale industrial projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate effectively, and solve problems.
  • Self-starter with a proven project ownership record.
  • Proactive, flexible, and team-oriented attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Process Engineering or related with 3+ years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Smartsheet, BIM360, and Autodesk software.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills with external and internal partners.
