Senior Imaging Technologist, Outpatient Diagnostic

PRN/OCC, Variable Hours & Shifts

Morristown Hamblen Overview:

Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System has 167 licensed beds and 23 emergency suites. The hospital offers outstanding ancillary services including Laboratory, Radiology, and Therapy services. At our Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, women can have their annual mammograms, biopsies, and meet with a nurse navigator if needed. The Women’s Center offers six newly remodeled labor and delivery suites and has a secure nursery for the care of our newborns. It serves an eight-county region in the Lakeway Area and is equipped with modern technologies and expert staff to provide the best possible patient care. Position Summary:

Performs complex tasks associated with the operation of radiographic equipment to produce high-quality X-ray images. The Sr. Imaging Tech is responsible for producing routine and difficult imaging procedures and support activities while maintaining safe radiation practices. Functions as a clinical resource for Imaging Techs I & II and other co-workers, providing quality review of work performed as needed. The Sr. Imaging Tech will assist in department functions in the absence of supervisory personnel and assist in other areas of Imaging Services.

Responsibilities

  • Applies ALARA principles to maintain established radiation safety standards, minimizing radiation exposure to patients, healthcare personnel, self, and the public through protective devices, shields, dose reduction, and monitors; determines appropriate exposure factors.
  • Collaborates with the patient's clinical history and procedure, ensuring information is documented and accessible for licensed practitioners. Receives, relays, and documents verbal, written, and electronic orders in the medical record. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality.
  • Performs routine and complex diagnostic imaging procedures using technical expertise and equipment protocols as ordered. Assists licensed practitioners with interventional procedures, including time outs and completing informed consents. Performs venipuncture and maintains IV access as prescribed. Proficient in advanced diagnostic imaging and fluoroscopic procedures. May transport patients and assists in other imaging areas as needed. Practices aseptic technique and universal precautions, applying infection prevention techniques.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures, proactively assisting patients, families, practitioners, and visitors.
  • Maintains patient safety during all radiographic procedures, including proper identification, fall prevention, transport, and hand hygiene.
  • Proficient with clerical duties, radiology information systems, PACS, equipment care, supply management, and area cleaning.
Qualifications

Minimum Education: Sufficient to meet licensing and certification standards as required by the issuing authority at the time of licensing/certification.

Minimum Experience: Completed an accredited educational program recognized by ARRT. At least two (2) years of diagnostic imaging experience, proficient in fluoroscopy and specialized exams, including surgical imaging.

Licensure Requirement: ARRT (R) certification and state licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.
