Job summary

Celgard, LLC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for day shift (7am–7pm, 2-2-3). You will perform preventative maintenance, repair production equipment, and troubleshoot issues with Engineering and Operations.

The role requires mechanical tech training, 1+ year in industry, and ability to work at heights and lift up to 35 pounds. Overtime and night shifts may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance environment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical drive systems.
• Welding, machine shop, and rigging knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

Must be flexible to work off shifts if the need arises. This position directly reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and does not supervise others.Key AccountabilitiesPerform preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, and troubleshooting of production & development equipment.Follow department guidelines and Standard Operating Procedure work instruction for equipment repair of plastic film processing equipment, specifically extrusion line cleanings, preventative Maintenance & other equipment maintenanceProperly complete and submit all paperwork associated with equipment maintenance and safety protocolsPerform minor modifications to equipment to eliminate the root cause of the mechanical problems.Diagnose equipment issues & assist in the diagnosis of process related problems through collaborative teamwork with Engineering & Operations staffPerform minor fabrication and machine work, i.e. welding, milling machine, lathe, and drill pressSupport new equipment installationsTrain other maintenance personnel on mechanical systems and personal areas of expertiseWork collaboratively with all maintenance and manufacturing personnel; lead and participate in cross-functional teamsFollow all Celgard safety guidelines and procedures, plan safety into projects and tasksMust be able to work at heights up to 30 feet, lift and carry up to 30 lbs., climb ladders, bend and twist in order to reach remote equipmentOperate equipment such as forklifts, portable hoist, cherry picker, one man lift, etc.Use computer to update mechanical proceduresFlexibility to carry a pager/cell phone for coverage and site wide communication. Also willing to work a night shift schedule.QualificationsEducation Background:High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent requiredAssociate’s degree or diploma in Mechanical technology preferredKnowledge & Experience :1+ years' experience in an industrial environment performing mechanical maintenance required, 2-3 years of experience preferredFormal industrial maintenance training requiredMechanical troubleshooting experience requiredAbility to troubleshoot, maintain typical mechanical drive systems (brakes, clutches, couplings, bearings, belts, chains, gears, sprockets, etc.)Troubleshooting pneumatic systems is required.Strength in one or more of the following is highly preferred: Welding, Machine Shop, Optical Alignment, and proper Rigging Techniques.Knowledge of small centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, piping layouts, and polymer extrusion, preferredExperience with predictive techniques such as infrared and ultrasonic are preferredProficiency with computers and computer applications (MS Office, Word, Excel)Key Attributes:Able to troubleshoot, maintain typical mechanical drive systems (brakes, clutches, couplings, bearings, belts, chains, gears, sprockets, etc.)Troubleshooting pneumatic systems is required.Lubrication PracticesAble to perform precision alignments and installations.Experience and knowledge of electrical systems a plusExperience troubleshooting and doing PMseMaintenance systemMust obtain PIV licenseTravelMust be able and willing to travel up to 10% domestically for training and visiting other company locations.Asahi Kasei and Celgard ValuesSincerity – Being sincere with everyoneChallenge – Bolding taking challenges, continually seeking changeCreativity – Creating new value through unity and synergyWorking EnvironmentThis position is in a manufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment around chemicals.
