Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of direct HR experience.
  • Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems such as ADP and Oracle.
  • Expert guidance on HR compliance, legal requirements, and regulatory filings.
  • Strong problem‑solving, project management, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws affecting payroll (FLSA, ACA, wage & hour).
  • Knowledge of health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k)/retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Handling, storage, and protection of sensitive HR documentation and personnel files.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide empathetic HR support and build trust across the organization.
  • Discretion handling sensitive issues and confidentiality in all work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and complete confidential projects.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and Hiring: support the recruitment process, post openings, screen resumes, schedule interviews
  • Employee Relations: address inquiries, mediate disputes, foster a positive environment
  • Payroll Processing: biweekly multi-state payroll, FMLA tracking, reimbursements, bonuses, merit increases
  • Benefits Administration: oversee enrollment, events, and Open Enrollment coordination
  • Compliance: ensure HR practices comply with labor laws and company guidelines
  • Performance Management: support reviews and development of teams
  • Employee Records: maintain accurate records and ensure data privacy
  • Budgeting and Reporting: provide HR metrics and standard management reports
  • Policy development and implementation: develop and implement HR policies for Legend Brands
  • Internal communication: relay HR updates on benefits, policies, or new programs

Job Summary

Legend Brands is hiring for a Senior HR Specialist at our Burlington Washington headquarters. The Senior HR Specialist is responsible for conducting day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, including recruiting, employee relations, benefits, responding to complex employee requests, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This position works to improve the workplace environment, address employee issues, and support the company's overall strategies.

Essential Duties
  • Recruiting and Hiring: Fully support the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews
  • Employee Relations: Effectively address current and former employee inquiries and concerns, mediating disputes, and fostering a positive work environment
  • Payroll Processing: Prepare, process, and review multi-state payroll on a biweekly basis, including completion of necessary Status Change Forms, tracking and reconciling FMLA and other leaves, reimbursements/charges, as appropriate, commissions, bonuses, merit increases, and other required adjustments
  • Benefits Administration: Provide oversight of benefits programs including initial enrollment, qualifying events, communication, and annual Open Enrollment coordination with Corporate Benefits.
  • Compliance: Ensure that HR practices and policies comply with labor laws, regulations, and company guidelines
  • Performance Management: Support the performance review process, providing feedback to employees, and helping managers develop their teams
  • Employee Records: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations
  • Budgeting and Reporting: Provide input for department budget, track and maintain HR Department metrics, and prepare several standard reports for management
  • Policy development and implementation: Helping to develop and implement HR policies and procedures, specific to Legend Brands.
  • Internal communication: Communicating HR information to employees, such as updates on benefits, policies, or new programs.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 5 years of previous directly applicable experience
  • Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems, such as ADP, Oracle, etc.
  • Provide expert-level guidance on HR compliance, legal requirements, and regulatory filings
  • Strong problem-solving and project management, and stakeholder communication skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws affecting payroll (e.g., FLSA, ACA, and wage & hour laws).

Hiring Range

$34.00 - $38.00 per hour DOE
