Job Overview

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner partners with operational leadership and is responsible for implementing and executing key projects and initiatives within the facility/group. Reporting to the Sr. HR Manager, the Sr. HR Business Partner is responsible for effective execution of human resources functions, such as Talent Development, Talent Selection, Workforce Planning, Engagement, Recognition, Performance Management, Organizational Development, Training, Associate Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Wellness, Risk Safety, Labor Relations, Sustainability and Philanthropy.

While providing on-site support for our 50+ distribution centers, our HR Operations team ensures effective execution of human resources strategies in areas such as Talent Development, Workforce Planning, Talent Selection, Engagement, Recognition, Performance Management, Organizational Development, Training, Associate Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Wellness, Risk Safety, Labor Relations, Sustainability and Philanthropy. They play a pivotal role in our transformation journey, helping develop and retain the right talent and embodying a “people first” mindset to drive UNFI’s culture of collaboration and engagement.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides functional HR expertise and executes key HR projects and functions.
  • Leverages best practices and collaborates regionally and nationally.
  • Executes HR programs in accordance with processes and maintains HRIS records.
  • Partners with leaders and Total Rewards to ensure accurate personnel actions and data integrity.
  • Implements core annual programs like performance evaluations, compensation planning, talent assessment, and wellness initiatives.
  • Manages leaves of absence and accommodation requests.
  • Ensures compliance with HR policies and laws.
  • Handles talent development, employee relations, terminations, and exit interviews.
  • Conducts workplace investigations as needed.
Business Partnership
  • Builds relationships with leaders and provides coaching.
  • Implements HR initiatives, seeks feedback, and reviews metrics to improve processes.
Talent & Onboarding
  • Implements workforce and talent strategies with Talent Acquisition.
  • Advises on onboarding and conducts new hire orientations.
Engagement & Associate Relations
  • Resolves associate questions and supports engagement surveys.
  • Addresses concerns and promotes a positive company culture.
Education/Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred; PHR/SPHR/CHRL/CPHR certification advantageous.
Experience
  • Minimum 4 years HR experience required.
Knowledge
  • HR techniques, employment laws, talent acquisition, compensation, and employee relations.
Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent communication, analytical, relationship-building, problem-solving, and change management skills.
Work Environment

This is an onsite role at UNFI locations, such as distribution centers or offices.

Physical Demands
  • Some travel may be required; most work in a temperature-controlled office environment.
