THE ROLE

Khan Academy is looking for a strategic and experienced Sr. Human Resources Business Partner to be a trusted partner and HR advisor to executives and leaders across the organization. You know how to influence senior leaders and individual contributors alike, and you use your strong grasp of HR functional knowledge to strike the balance of strategic, "big picture" guidance and day-to-day HR support. You're reliable, responsive, and service-oriented; leaders and team members trust you to deliver as promised.

You will:

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day HR support across various departments, including engineering, external relations, product and design, marketing, and G&A.
  • Foster a healthy organizational culture by providing guidance regarding performance management, investigating and resolving employee relations issues, and encouraging open, productive dialogue between managers, employees and other partners.
  • Act as a strategic partner to people leaders, advising on talent development strategies and supporting them through change management initiatives, work force planning, and other aspects of people management.
  • Use creative problem solving skills and HR expertise to address complex organization and individual needs that are often time sensitive.
  • Partner with leaders across the org and within the People teams to support decision making and action planning based on insights from people analytics and engagement data.
  • Contribute to the continued improvement of HR programs, processes, and planning within the organization.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 7+ years experience as an HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, or similar role in the ed tech or tech industry supporting multiple teams and several layers of management.
  • Experience supporting executives and department leaders in designing org structures, operationalizing talent processes, and creating solutions to department-specific challenges to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, coaching and development, compensation practices, and federal and state employment laws.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • A client-service mindset and recognition that circumstances change in dynamic organizations.
  • An approach that limits bureaucracy but follows the rules.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high expectations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and follow-through skills with a high attention to detail and ability to resolve issues promptly.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g. SHRM) is a plus.

The target salary range for this position is $120,800 - $151,000 USD / $163,238- $204,048 CAD. The pay range for this position is a general guideline only. The salary offered will depend on internal pay equity and the candidate’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and job market data. Exceptional performers in this role who make an outsized contribution can make well in excess of this range. Additional incentives are provided as part of the complete total rewards package in addition to comprehensive medical and other benefits.
