You will analyze income, assets, and credit, enforce TRID and QM rules, manage a loan pipeline, and support FHA/VA underwriting initiatives. The role demands high accuracy, strong communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five+ years of mortgage loan underwriting experience.
  • Three+ years of correspondent lending experience (desired).
  • FHA DE or VA LAPP SAR (desired).
  • Expert with loan origination software relevant to duties.
  • Proven track record of meeting monthly goals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Some travel required for training and objectives.

Responsibilities

Overview

Role: Sr. Home Loan Underwriter — Experienced level. Location: South Richland HQ, Richland, WA 99352. Employment type: Full Time - Hourly. Education requirement: High School. Salary range: $34.60 - $57.67 per hour.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Analyze income, credit, assets, and loan applications according to company and agency underwriting guidelines to produce sound credit decisions.
  • Comply with TRID, Ability to Repay/Qualified Mortgage rules, and other compliance regulations.
  • Ensure Loan Origination System reflects accurate loan data.
  • Perform thorough collateral analysis to ensure the property meets company and agency guidelines and that appraisal quality and completeness are acceptable.
  • Collaborate with loan officers and operations staff to address loan conditions, questions, issues, and problem solve.
  • Collaborate with management on counter offers and exceptions; issue denials, suspensions, and counteroffers.
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of company and agency guidelines, updates, and trends.
  • Manage a pipeline and achieve production and turn-time standards set forth by management.
  • Display mutual respect, trust, and dignity while acting in the best interest of the credit union and following all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and protect all sensitive data with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Willingly perform other job-related projects and duties as assigned; provide self-initiated support to team members when appropriate.
  • Provide support, training, coaching, and mentoring as the subject-matter expert for the underwriting team to maintain organizational consistency.
  • Assist in internal audits and external exams as applicable.
  • Work with management on FHA and VA underwriting approval authority projects.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; specialized training/experience may be required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant mortgage loan underwriting experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with correspondent lending (desired).
  • FHA DE or VA LAPP SAR (desired).
  • Expert experience with loan origination software related to job functions.
  • Proven success in maintaining monthly goals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Some travel required to achieve training and business objectives.

Full Salary Range

Richland, WA: $34.60 - $57.67

Spokane, WA: $34.60 - $57.67
