Sr. Histotechnologist (ORMC) FT; 2nd shift

Position Summary

The Histotechnologist, Sr. processes surgical specimens for pathologic diagnosis, including tissue fixation, processing, microtomy, and staining slides for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. Performs related special staining techniques, which may include immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent, and enzyme histochemical stains. Documents all quality control and preventive maintenance procedures performed.

Schedule

2:30pm to 11:00pm; Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Performs troubleshooting of processing and staining processes and instruments, and requests engineering and biomedical services as needed.
  • Prepares stock and working reagents and maintains supplies.
  • Receives and processes specimens, answers calls, greets guests, reports abnormal findings, and documents discrepancies and resolutions.
  • Assumes responsibilities such as key operator duties, project management, teaching, supervision, and evaluation of new technology.
  • Supervises employees in daily histology laboratory activities.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance and compliance with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an approved school of Histotechnology.
  • Current Florida license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Qualification: Histology Technologist.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
