The Hartford’s Information Protection (THIP) organization seeks talented professionals to join a high-performing team responsible for supporting and enhancing our core Directory Services platforms. As a Directory Services engineer, this role involves engineering and maintaining directory services platforms, with a focus on HashiCorp Vault. You will help shape the future use of Vault at Hartford and oversee its currency, patching, and operational support metrics. The role provides thought leadership, professional support, and valuable contributions across production support, development, and projects. We seek an experienced professional with broad technical knowledge and understanding of industry best practices.

The ideal candidate will develop a deep understanding of Vault's usage, advocate for automation and efficiency, and influence management to optimize system use. The role emphasizes maintaining currency and stability. You should have extensive technical skills and a desire to grow across related domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Expert for HashiCorp Vault: Monitor health, ensure stability, analyze and implement patches and upgrades.
  2. Support for DR and Cyber Resilience Testing: Plan, test, and support disaster recovery and resilience activities, improving processes where possible.
  3. Vault Expansion into AWS: Develop plans for integrating Vault into AWS, including infrastructure design and roadmap development.
  4. Process Automation: Review current processes and design automated, efficient solutions.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with in-office work in Hartford, CT; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; or Columbus, OH, 3 days a week (Tues-Thurs).

Qualifications:

  • Broad technical background
  • 2+ years supporting HashiCorp Vault
  • Experience with multiple authentication types (e.g., LDAP, Kerberos, Kubernetes, OIDC)
  • 4+ years in directory services or identity management
  • Expertise with secrets engines (LDAP, AWS, KV2, etc.)
  • Knowledge of best practices for credentials and token TTLs
  • Understanding of performance and DR clusters
  • Powershell / C# .NET skills
  • Splunk and audit log analysis beneficial
  • Strong Windows server knowledge
  • Experience in production/support activities
  • Decision-making and influencing skills
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills
  • Innovative thinking and process improvement experience
  • BS or MA in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred

Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. No STEM OPT I-983 endorsement support.

Compensation: Base salary ranges from $127,200 to $190,800, based on market analysis and individual factors. Total compensation may include bonuses, incentives, and recognition.
