Job description

This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of an office [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford or Mountain View], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

The Role

The Senior Group Strategist of the Marketing Applied Sciences Portfolio will serve as the strategic orchestrator, connecting business goals with analytical capabilities. This role acts as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, effectively communicating the broader business vision while translating it into actionable and achievable portfolio roadmaps.
The ideal candidate excels at aligning cross-functional teams, simplifying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and finding pragmatic solutions for impactful results.

In this position, you will be responsible for leading a cross functional, pod-structured team of data practitioners, supporting our vehicle and corporate brands. You will manage a diverse portfolio of marketing analytics initiatives, bridging technical capabilities – like experimentation, measurement, activation and insights - with marketing business requirements, ensuring our Marketing Applied Sciences Team delivers measurable impact across the organization.
Collaborating with teams across marketing, media, Enterprise Data, Analytics, and Insights (EDAI) and more, you and your team will translate business objectives into practical analytics frameworks, identify optimization opportunities, and empower data-driven decision-making.

A strong technical foundation in data science, measurement/statistics, performance marketing and media, and data/bi engineering is essential to shaping the Marketing Applied Sciences vision, owning strategic roadmaps, and fostering alignment between business and technical teams. Your focus will be on delivering forward-thinking, customer centric, prescriptive solutions that keep GM proactive and nimble in our exciting transition to EVs.

What You’ll Do

  • Supporting the strategic direction of our Marketing Applied Sciences portfolio by developing and maintaining a comprehensive roadmap that aligns analytical initiatives with business priorities, organizational goals, and growth objectives.
  • Building and managing relationships with key marketing stakeholders to deeply understand their analytical needs, translating them into actionable, high-impact initiatives.
  • Optimizing the portfolio to balance innovation, operational excellence, and business impact, identifying opportunities to scale and automate successful analytics solutions while sunsetting underperforming initiatives.
  • Exhibiting the ability to tell a succinct, data-driven story in any forum, tailoring communication to a wide range of stakeholders and audiences.
  • Interfacing with business stakeholders, prioritizing asks across the portfolio, and ensuring timely delivery of data products, insights, and solutions.
  • Leading portfolio reviews, communicating progress, ROI, and strategic alignment to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Managing the portfolio’s resource allocation, timelines, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Establishing and maintaining governance frameworks, prioritization criteria, and success metrics for the portfolio, continuously measuring impact and adjusting plan as needed.
  • Crafting new team behaviors and norms, with a team leadership orientation and desire to foster individual development, constructing a team whose success is balanced by behaviors and outcomes
