Role Summary

Lead technical sourcing, commercial development, and industrialization of Rivian's in-house manufacturing supply chain, increasing internal manufacturing capabilities through smart, effective capex strategy creation and execution.

Responsibilities
  1. Managing industrial automation/equipment supplier development and strategic relationships
  2. Identify technologies, suppliers, assess capabilities, and create sourcing plans with Rivian stakeholders
  3. Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps
  4. Lead strategic sourcing events, supplier interfacing, and dispute resolution of complex manufacturing issues
  5. Steer contractual negotiations with suppliers, executing Purchase Agreements and Statements of Work
  6. Support timely and efficient Capex design, execution, and lifecycle management of new factories and equipment projects with manufacturing engineering partners and cross-functional teams
  7. Drive cost and commercial value negotiations using detailed data and analysis
  8. Manage supplier and tiered supplier performance using KPIs and first principles approach
  9. Monitor Capex spend forecast and risk with Rivian Finance, providing internal guidance for improvement
  10. Work closely with Program Management to support program requirements and track progress against milestones
  11. Communicate directly with senior leadership on key strategic supplier and technology decisions
  12. Create should-cost models to assist in program budgeting with cross-functional teams
  13. Drive commercial and business decisions, including establishing technology investment roadmaps
  14. Expand and support planning of Rivian's global CapEx supplier footprint
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business
  • 2-5 years of experience in technical sourcing, capital project procurement, or similar
  • Experience managing commercial relationships in automotive, electronics, or high-volume manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing and industrialization technology and supplier landscape
  • Analytical skills, technical literacy, and attention to detail for solving complex issues
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, high integrity, and emotional intelligence
  • Experience working and managing projects globally, with flexibility to travel
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in multiple languages is a bonus
Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California-based applicants: $107,800 - $146,500. For Illinois/Michigan: $98,500 - $123,100. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, with coverage starting on day one.
