A global industrial manufacturer is seeking a Sr. Global Category Manager, Motors & Electromechanical to lead category strategy for motors, drive systems, motion control technologies, and other engineered electromechanical components. This individual will manage a team of procurement professionals while driving global sourcing strategy, supplier performance, cost competitiveness, and long-term supply continuity.
The position requires deep experience with rotating equipment, motors, electromechanical systems, drive systems, power transmission components, engineered assemblies, and associated manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate combines strong category management expertise with leadership experience, supplier development capabilities, and a deep understanding of manufacturing and electromechanical systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute global category strategies across motors, motion systems, drive technologies, power transmission components, and related electromechanical assemblies.
- Lead a team of category management and procurement professionals while driving alignment across global regions and business units.
- Establish long-term sourcing roadmaps that support product strategy, supply continuity, manufacturing competitiveness, and business growth objectives.
- Drive supplier optimization initiatives including dual sourcing, supplier segmentation, localization strategies, and supply base rationalization.
- Lead executive-level commercial negotiations covering long-term agreements, pricing structures, capacity commitments, and strategic supplier partnerships.
- Build detailed cost models and should-cost analyses for motors, machined components, electromechanical assemblies, castings, forgings, and related manufacturing processes.
- Deliver annual productivity, cost savings, working capital, and cash flow improvements through strategic sourcing and supplier development initiatives.
- Manage a global network of OEMs and engineered component suppliers, driving improvements in quality, delivery performance, technical capability, and overall competitiveness.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support new product introductions, product transitions, design-to-cost initiatives, and product lifecycle strategies.
- Identify opportunities for supplier innovation, technology advancement, and value engineering to improve product performance and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Benchmark manufacturers and suppliers to evaluate cost structures, manufacturing capabilities, automation practices, and productivity opportunities across the supply base.
- Serve as the escalation point for critical supplier issues involving quality, capacity constraints, delivery performance, manufacturing disruptions, and supply continuity.
- Monitor global market conditions, supplier health, geopolitical risks, tariffs, and other external factors that may impact supply strategy or category performance.
- Provide executive leadership with visibility into category performance, strategic risks, supplier capabilities, and long-term sourcing opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree w/ 10+ years of strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, or supply chain leadership experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience leading, mentoring, or managing procurement and category management professionals.
- Experience managing global categories involving motors, motion systems, power transmission, electromechanical products, or other engineered components.
- Proven success leading executive supplier negotiations, cost savings initiatives, and strategic sourcing programs.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain functions.
