The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for performing subsurface investigations, engineering analyses, and evaluations related to site development projects, forensic investigations, and supporting design plans such as earth retaining structures, on-site wastewater treatment, disposal, and foundation underpinning.

Responsibilities include:

1. Directing and supervising staff and contractors during field exploration programs for various project types.
2. Performing field investigations in high-risk geotechnical areas such as carbonate rock, shallow groundwater, organic deposits, and high building loads.
3. Preparing drilling and subcontractor instructions based on project scope.
4. Overseeing engineering services during construction involving foundations, excavations, and earthwork operations.
5. Developing geotechnical and construction inspection scopes, schedules, and budgets.
6. Preparing field investigation instructions and communicating results to project teams and clients.
7. Developing design recommendations and identifying the need for additional investigations or testing.
8. Coordinating laboratory testing programs based on field results.
9. Reviewing and analyzing subsurface logs and incorporating data into technical reports.
10. Performing geotechnical analyses for foundations, earthwork, slope stability, and retaining walls.
11. Preparing detailed geotechnical engineering reports for review.
12. Reviewing construction phase testing and inspection reports for compliance.
13. Assisting project managers with field coordination and project support.
14. Communicating with clients and contractors on project tasks and results.
15. Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Soil Science, Geology, or related field; geotechnical focus preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred).
• 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical consulting, construction inspections, or laboratory testing.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required; PE license preferred or obtainable.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company/personal vehicle.
• Relevant certifications such as ACI, OSHA, and APNGA preferred.
• Hands-on experience with metric and English tools.
• Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with geotechnical software.
• Independent, critical thinker, self-starter, team player, and capable of mentoring staff.
• Familiarity with mapping tools, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and regulatory processes.
