Position overview: The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will perform subsurface investigations, engineering analyses, and evaluations for site development projects, forensic investigations, and support design plans including earth retaining structures, on-site wastewater treatment, and foundation underpinning.

Responsibilities:

1. Direct and supervise staff and contractors for field exploration programs.
2. Conduct investigations in high-risk areas such as carbonate rock, shallow groundwater, organic deposits, and high building loads.
3. Prepare drilling and subcontractor instructions based on project scope.
4. Oversee engineering during construction involving foundations, excavations, and earthwork.
5. Develop inspection scopes, schedules, and budgets for proposals.
6. Coordinate laboratory testing programs and analyze field logs for subsurface conditions.
7. Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, earthwork, slope stability, and retaining walls.
8. Write detailed geotechnical engineering reports.
9. Review construction phase testing and inspection reports for compliance.
10. Assist project managers with field work coordination and project support.
11. Communicate effectively with clients and contractors.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Soil Science, Geology, or related field; geotechnical concentration preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• 3-5 years’ experience in geotechnical consulting, construction material inspections, or laboratory testing.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) required; PE license preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicle.
• Certifications such as ACI, OSHA, or APNGA preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, geotechnical software, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and mapping tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
