Job summary

EXL is seeking a Sr. AI Engineer with hands-on experience in Semantic Kernel and Microsoft Agent Framework, coupled with Python/Django expertise to rebuild a unified orchestration layer on Azure AI services.

The role is based in Pittsburgh with a hybrid work model (2-3 days in-office). The candidate will work on moving SK plugins, planners, function calling and memory to the Agent Framework, while preserving API contracts, RBAC, and security.

Qualifications

• Must-have SK + Agent Framework hands-on refactoring experience.
• Python/Django to rebuild orchestration layer without breaking API contracts, RBAC, and permissions.
• Azure AI Services / RAG including Azure Search, OpenAI embeddings, retrieval, reranking, and citation paths.
• OpenShift / containerization to deploy migrated microservices on OCP.
• CI/CD/DevSecOps practices including PR-based workflows and vulnerability remediation.
• Observability and evaluation using OpenTelemetry instrumentation and related tooling.
