Oak Farms Dairy, a DFA Company, seeks a Sr. Refrigeration Mechanic to join their fleet-maintenance team in Texas.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on tractors and trailers, diagnose refrigeration systems, and ensure equipment is safe and operational for daily route service. The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of relevant experience, CDL and refrigeration certifications, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • CDL, refrigeration license, or mechanic certification may be required.
  • Relevant maintenance experience with trucks/trailers is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to moderately difficult vehicle and preventive maintenance, component replacements, and repairs.
  • Maintain and repair brakes, steering, suspension, lighting, A/C, and powertrain components.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties.
  • Use shop management system and other electronic systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic equipment.
  • Identify root cause of failures and perform repairs.
  • Interact with drivers to determine nature of complaint.
  • Follow safety, DOT, and SOP guidelines.
  • Complete work orders and paperwork accurately.
  • Respond to accidents or inoperable vehicles and transport for repair.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and wear PPE.
  • Assist and mentor less experienced mechanics.

Job description

Oak Farms Dairy, a DFA Company, is seeking a Sr. Refrigeration Mechanic to join their team - 5k Sign On Bonus!

Perform the majority of truck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs with minimal support of others, ensuring that equipment is available and in optimal operating condition. Work with the assistance of other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs. Work under minimal supervision, exercising some judgment and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic to moderately difficult vehicle and preventive maintenance, component replacements, and repairs.
  • Maintain, repair, inspect, and/or replace brakes, steering mechanisms, springs, air bags, lights, air conditioners, water, fuel, oil, air filters, coolant and chemicals, transmissions, tire air pressure, tire tread, tires, chassis, drive lines, u‑joints, air tanks, batteries, air lines, power cords, wipers, mirrors, drive train components, or other equipment as necessary.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties.
  • Use shop management system and other electronic systems available.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable.
  • Identify root cause of failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
  • Interact with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task.
  • Work in accordance with all federal, state, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT).
  • Complete work orders and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining high quality standards in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Respond to accidents or inoperable vehicles to transport equipment back to shop for repair, if appropriate.
  • Keep management informed of safety, operator, and equipment observations and concerns.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes, utilizing continuous improvement mindset.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area which may include wearing of all required personal protective equipment in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Assist and mentor less experienced mechanics.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 to 4 years of mechanic, maintenance, or related experience.
  • Certification and/or License - Mechanic certification, CDL license, refrigeration license, or other relevant certifications or licenses may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Skill with engines, anti‑lock braking system, transmission, diagnostic equipment, and software.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations.
  • Able to read and understand driver inspection reports.
  • Able to assist other mechanics on complex repairs in a safe and useful manner.
  • Able to operate tools, equipment, and peripheral accessories.
  • Able to independently access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to perform tasks and duties without constant supervision.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to follow directions.
  • Able to problem solve.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
