Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Finance professional to join our Tysons, VA project controls team on-site. You will manage budgets, forecasts, and procurement for multi-year construction projects, ensuring cash-positive performance and accurate monthly billing.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s in accounting/finance with 5+ years of experience, strong Excel skills, and proven ability to work independently while coordinating with project management and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Engage with project management to establish budgets and manpower forecasts for multi-year construction projects.
• Monitor and analyze indirect costs with budget-to-actual variance analysis; identify root causes.
• Establish cash-flow forecasts to keep projects cash-positive; adjust forecasts as needed.
• Ensure accurate monthly cost-plus billing submissions.
• Lead procurement planning and ensure compliance and logistics are included in the plan.
• Maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) at the award and project levels; manage updates.
• Prepare monthly financial forms for review with management; justify variances.

Travel

Regular travel between the Tysons Headquarters and the Frederick, MD site is required.

Responsibilities

This position will report to the project site 100% of the time. We are looking to expand our finance team to support multi-million multi-year large scale construction projects. The successful candidate will perform the following activities daily/periodically:

• Project Cost Control:
  • Engage with project management team to come up with accurate budgets and manpower forecast for multi-year construction project.
  • Monitor and control indirect costs by performing budget to actual analysis on weekly basis; identifying and eliminating root cause for variances.
  • Establish accurate cash flow forecast to ensure the project is cash-positive for the duration; monitor monthly to ensure the forecast remains accurate and job stays cash-positive for the duration. Take necessary steps to adjust forecast as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely complex multi-million cost-plus billing submission on monthly basis.
• Project Procurement Planning:
  • Lead procurement planning effort for the project. Work closely with project management team to come up with a detailed procurement plan for the project after award; ensure compliance and logistics are included in the plan.
  • Help project team procure the job according to plan before 20% completion.
  • Perform monthly analysis of actual bought vs plan; ensure acceptable justification prior to adjusting the plan.
• Work Breakdown Structure:
  • Assist project management team in establishing Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) at the time of award.
  • Assist with maintenance of WBS responsibilities at the project level.
  • Ensure WBS is maintained throughout the project duration.
• Project Controls:
  • Assist project team with monthly financial forms:
    • Provide cost analysis and require explanation of variances from the project team.
    • Help project management team in preparation monthly financial forms for review with management.
    • Ensure acceptable justification for all found variances (fades/gains).

Pay Range

USD $90,800.00 - USD $136,200.00 /Yr.
