Optum California is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to join our dynamic Operational Finance team. This position will focus on supporting the quarterly forecasting process, monthly reporting and analysis, and ad hoc financial analysis for operations. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, fast learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in Excel. A passion for financial modeling and an interest in learning financial systems.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze quarterly financial forecasts, plus month-end financial reports
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support operational decisions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting
• Utilize financial systems (Essbase, Planful, Peoplesoft, PowerBI) to gather and analyze data
• Support continuous process improvement and automation efforts within the department
• Help in the development of financial models and reporting templates to optimize efficiency

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher degree in Finance/Accounting or related area
• 1+ years of Finance/Accounting experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, XLOOKUP, etc.)
• A positive, proactive approach to work with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or familiarity with financial modeling
• Knowledge of financial systems such as Essbase, Planful, Peoplesoft, PowerBI (a plus, but not required)
• SG&A Experience
• Adhere to a PST or CST work schedule
• Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
• Solid communication skills, both written and verbal

The salary range for this role is $59,500 to $116,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
