Job description

The Senior Financial Analyst serves as the subject matter expert responsible for the strategic management, oversight, and optimization of the hospital’s Chargemaster (CDM). Ensures accurate charge capture, regulatory compliance, and revenue optimization across all hospital departments. Supports the organization with revenue and charging related questions as well as proper research and setup of charge processes and pricing to ensure accurate & timely charging. Coordinates and implements the enterprise chargemaster and audit initiatives and processes to ensure revenue management integrity. The Senior Financial Analyst fosters collaboration across functions to improve financial processes and align financial strategies with departmental and organizational goals.

This is a remote opportunity; however, the selected candidate must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin and have the ability to work onsite in St. Paul, MN as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $86,257/annually to $129,396/annually, with a median salary of $107,827/annually. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Pricing
    • Develop and implement pricing strategies in partnership with internal business partners
    • Create revenue forecasting to support pricing transparency initiatives.
  • Charge Integrity
    • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and charge protocols, including interpretation of regulatory guidelines.
    • Implement and coordinate process improvements to achieve greater efficiencies.
    • Perform in-depth analyses of charges, billing practices, and reimbursement outcomes to identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and compliance improvement.
    • Audit and monitor charge capture processes and implement process improvements as needed.
  • Charge Master Maintenance
    • Maintain and update the Charge Description Master (CDM) across multiple service lines in accordance with internal policies, payer requirements, and governmental regulations (e.g., CMS, HIPAA).
    • Coordinate site chargemaster implementations to ensure accuracy and relevance of chargeable items and services in collaboration with enterprise-wide departments (i.e. Information technology, supply chain, pharmacy, ancillary and operational departments). Partner with IT and EHR teams (e.g., Epic, Cerner) to ensure proper CDM integration and data flow.
    • Review and analyze annual coding changes (i.e. CPT and HCPCS) and summarize recommend updates to enterprise chargemaster.
    • Work directly with customers and site-specific leads to provide support for on-going chargemaster projects.
    • Maintain documentation of CDM changes, audit results, and compliance reports.
  • Business Partnership
    • Build strong partnerships across assigned functions and departments, fostering collaboration to align financial strategies with organizational objectives. Serve as a liaison between clinical departments, billing, compliance, and finance teams to resolve charge capture issues.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify opportunities for improvement, streamline charge processes, and implement solutions that support the organization's strategic goals and operational efficiency.
    • Actively plan and manage project progress and communicate status and observed bottlenecks. Monitor operational outcomes relative to expectations and communicate opportunities to enhance outcomes.
    • Provide education & training to business partners on the effective use of financial systems and tools, as well as how to read and interpret financial information and reports.
  • Other Duties
    • Ensuring accurate information to support Medicare cost reports, cost accounting, monthly KPIs and year-end audits.
    • Collaborate with FP&A team during dynamic and annual budgeting processes, ensuring accuracy, alignment with organizational goals, and timely completion.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field OR equivalent hospital experience
  • 4 years of experience in healthcare environment, including a minimum of 1 year experience with healthcare billing, charge development, denials and/or reimbursement models.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Preferred

  • Masters’ degree or equivalent experience
  • CPA/CMA/MBA
  • Proficient understanding of healthcare financial analysis creating complex gross and net revenue modeling.
  • Certifications and licenses such as CPC, CCS, CIC, MT or other Medical certifications.
  • Experience and knowledge of Infor Financial & Supply Management and Oracle Health (Cerner)
