Job summary

Draper in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to partner with internal departments on budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, supporting cost control and strategic initiatives. You will prepare recurring reports, analyze ROIs, collaborate with senior leadership, and guide junior analysts.

A strong background in finance, 7–10 years, and experience as a finance business partner are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 7–10 years of financial planning, budgeting and analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Dedicated Finance business partner to internal departments to develop budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and expense monitoring.
  • Provide actionable recommendations that support the organization’s goals and enhance reporting and financial analysis.
  • Solicit capital budget requests, analyze ROI, prioritize and present results to FP&A management; track spending and update forecasts.
  • Develop, maintain and improve recurring financial reporting for senior and executive leadership.
  • Perform data integrity and validation during month-end close, including transactional research.
  • Guide less experienced analysts on completing recurring tasks.
  • Identify and support ad hoc analyses and projects; gather & analyze data from disparate sources and present results to FP&A and management.

Job Description Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for financial planning, budgeting and analysis to serve as a finance business partner to several internal departments. The departments supported include highly matrixed indirect spending and/or full P&L impact. This position requires frequent collaboration with internal partners, executive & senior leadership team members, and FP&A management during budget development, variance analysis, forecasting and operational reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Dedicated Finance business partner to internal departments to develop budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and expense monitoring.
  • Provide actionable recommendations that support the organization’s goals. Add insight to supported departments through enhanced reporting and financial analysis with guidance from FP&A management.
  • Responsible for soliciting capital budget requests from supported departments, analyzing ROI, prioritizing and presenting results to FP&A management. Once approved, track actual spending and update forecasts for future expenditures as needed.
  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve recurring financial reporting for senior and executive leadership.
  • Perform data integrity and validation during month-end close, including transactional research from financial system and source documents.
  • Guide less experienced analysts on completion of this recurring task.
  • Identify, initiate and support other ad hoc analyses and projects as required.
  • Gather & analyze data from disparate sources, develop hypotheses & conclusions, and present analytical results to both FP&A and operational management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
  • Exceptional Excel skills for analysis and modeling in conjunction with financial tools (e.g., Adaptive, Tableau, PeopleSoft, Datawarehouse, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently within a team environment.
  • High level of accuracy, productivity and flexibility to multitask various projects within a deadline driven environment.
  • Knowledge of DOD and other applicable government regulations.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, a related field required.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience
  • 7-10 years of previous financial planning, budgeting and analysis experience required.
  • Experience as a finance business partner is required.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is

$95,000.00 - $245,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Union ranges will be in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement's approved rates by location and role.
