The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting the annual budget, midyear revised budget, monthly trend analysis, and monthly internal management reporting. Duties are to be carried out with integrity, competency, accuracy, and wisdom, with a high regard for professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy to help the enterprise and finance leaders be effective.

Key Responsibilities

In this role the Senior Financial Analyst will demonstrate strong finance acumen to support the Senior Finance Manager and Senior Director of FP&A in the effective execution of financial stewardship while working in partnership with Ministry Leaders.

  • Annual Budget & Revised Budget Cycle:
  • Manage and support the development, maintenance, distribution, and review of the annual budget and revised budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and management reports that facilitate decision support.
  • Update and maintain assigned Ministry departmental budget templates using the Vena FP&A tool, including data analysis, extraction, entry, and revision as needed.
  • Serve as a strategic analytical partner to Ministry teams as they formulate long-term business plans.
  • Monthly Internal Management Reporting and Trend Analysis:
  • Monitor financial performance at a department level through budget vs. actual reporting; identify variance drivers and prepare supporting commentary.
  • Build and enhance financial/non-financial models in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Research and report on factors influencing ministry performance to support decision-making.
  • Help maintain a dashboard of leading and lagging financial indicators.
  • Support, identify and recommend cost-reduction opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for Committee and Board of Directors reporting.
  • Support Finance-Related Day-to-Day Activities:
  • Support the processing of expenses for assigned Ministry area(s), including review of invoices in NetSuite.
  • Assist with tracking grant commitments, fund availability, and ministry assessments in collaboration with fundraising and program management teams.
  • Manage the contract review process to ensure budget and strategy alignment with ministry leaders.
  • Assist in analyzing and reconciling assigned vendor contract payments.
  • Perform Other Ad Hoc Tasks
  • Participate in the ongoing optimization of the Enterprise Resource Planning system and other cross-functional projects as assigned.
  • Prepare documents and analysis as directed by Finance and/or Ministry leaders.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or similar from an accredited university or equivalent experience required. Progress toward MBA or CPA a plus
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in business finance, budgeting, business analysis, or other relevant experience. Working knowledge of the budget planning process. Strong quantitative and analytical competency; ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and strong proficiency in Excel (formulas and functions).

Physical Demands/Work Environment

This role primarily involves sedentary work in an office environment. Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of materials and equipment, up to 20 pounds. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Incumbent will work in an environment where a team approach is employed to achieve accomplishment of projects and tasks. Must be able to work with staff at various levels within the organization. Work is regulated by timeliness and deadlines.
