Job Overview:

UNFI’s Finance Rotational Development Program is a two-year, high-impact rotational program designed to build future finance leaders. This opportunity includes three required rotations across our Enterprise FP&A, Commercial Finance, and Supply Chain Finance teams, plus one elective in areas such as Controllership, Investor Relations, Audit, Treasury, or Capital Expenditures. Participants will build broad-based finance acumen, sharpen their executive presence, and contribute meaningfully to value creation.

What does it mean to be part of our Finance/Accounting Team?

A role on our Finance and Accounting team involves helping UNFI maintain and grow its financial health as we continue to transform and scale. We need to ensure that our financial analysis and statements revolve around constant communication with our partners within the organization as well as outside to provide the most current statistics for our business health. By being attentive to details, trends, and inefficiencies, and communicating with our teams, you’ll be key to our success and continued growth as North America’s premier grocery wholesaler.

Job Responsibilities:

Rotations will include a blend of the following, depending on business need and your individual development plan:

  • Build and maintain complex financial models to forecast key metrics, support strategic decisions, and drive enterprise-wide performance
  • Analyze business drivers, variances, and trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations
  • Lead or contribute to quarterly forecast and annual budget cycles
  • Support strategic initiatives such as transformation efforts, margin expansion, or working capital optimization
  • Partner cross-functionally with commercial, supply chain, IT, and accounting teams
  • Present financial findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Leverage data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to tell compelling business stories
  • Participate in stretch projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Learn and apply LEAN principles (e.g. Standard Work, value stream thinking) to improve team efficiency and decision-making
  • Uphold strong financial stewardship and compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications:

  • MBA in Finance, Strategy, or related field from a top-tier institution (Class of 2025)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or STEM background preferred

Experience:

  • 2–5 years of pre-MBA experience in finance, consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or similar

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong financial modeling, analysis, and storytelling capability
  • Excellent communication, executive presence, and relationship-building skills
  • Strategic thinker who is resourceful, curious, and proactive
  • Demonstrated leadership through work, academics, or extracurriculars
  • High learning agility with the ability to thrive in ambiguity
  • Familiarity with financial planning systems and visualization tools is a plus

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

  • This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
