Job description

About FieldWrk & Our Mission

FieldWrk is a mission-first B2B branding agency built for the essential people and companies who build and maintain our world. Our mission is to help hardworking people and companies reach their full potential, starting with our team.

We are a strategic agency that offers branding, web design and development, field photo and video production, and digital marketing services. We partner with leaders in civil construction, heavy equipment, waste and environmental services, energy, and critical infrastructure to build brands that work as hard as the people behind them.

About This Role & Its Impact:

Your mission as Sr. Field Videographer, should you choose to accept it: Shoot video and photo that celebrate the people behind hardworking industries, tell impactful stories, and help our clients grow their brand through high-quality production content.

NOTE: This role requires about 50% travel and potentially extended days on active jobsites. There will be a paid contract videography project to ensure fit prior to any full-time offer.

This role exists to own the visual execution of our video and photo work in the field, in a way that resonates with our industry and delivers on the Creative Director's vision and goals for each piece. You'll act as our field lead for shoots: conducting interviews, working with clients on site, and making sure safe, authentic and meaningful content is captured. The footage and photos you capture become the brand videos, recruiting content, social media and photography our clients use to win work and hire people.

We're looking for a Sr. Field Videographer with 3–5 years of videography and photography experience who is ready to lead in the field and wants to grow into a Video Director role at a growing agency.

Key Responsibilities& How You'll Spend Your Time

60% — Production and field lead

  • Lead shoots on active jobsites with safety top of mind. Run the schedule and lead the crew so everyone stays on task, on the creative strategy and safe on site.
  • Shoot video and still photography. Both may be required on smaller projects.
  • Bring scripts and storyboards to life for both documentary and scripted work. When a planned shot isn't possible, find a creative solution that still matches the vision.
  • Lead interviews, put interviewees at ease, and steer conversations toward usable, on-message moments.
  • Direct talent through scripted scenes, checking performance, framing and continuity against the creative.
  • Capture B-roll and coverage that give the edit options, and make quick creative calls when plans change.
  • Manage media on site and log notes for the edit.

20% — Pre-production

  • Work with strategists and Creative/Art Directors to unpack briefs and align on vision, references and key messages.
  • Build mood boards, visual treatments and shot lists for each project. For commercial work, create storyboards. For documentary work, conduct pre-interviews and help hone the messaging and scripting.
  • Work with the Head of Production and production team to lock in logistics and equipment needs that match the creative vision.
  • Prep, test and pack equipment before each shoot, including charging batteries and formatting cards.

20% — Post-production and team

  • Write up shoot notes and lead shoot debriefs to prepare the editors and team for post.
  • Create work orders: paper edits for documentary pieces, circle takes for scripted content, and all technical and creative specifications.
  • Work with our Sr. Editor and Editor to sharpen edits before internal and client review, and suggest creative solutions to notes and feedback.
  • Advise on in-house gear purchases and maintain our equipment inventory.
  • Pitch ideas for new formats, stories and visual approaches, and stay current on video trends, platforms, techniques and equipment.
Your First 90 Days:
  • By 30 days: You've onboarded into FieldWrk, our production process, and the way our industry shoots video and photo. Ideally, you've gone on 2–3 shoots as our lead videographer.
  • By 60 days: You're independently supporting pre-production where appropriate and leading the production phase of our video and photo work. You've leaned into post-production too, finding efficiencies and suggesting improvements to our workflow.
  • By 90 days: You own the vision. You're leading teams in the field and in post, with a clear point of view on our video and photo offering. You've seen 3–5 projects through to delivery on schedule, on budget, and with positive feedback from clients and peers.

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 3–5 years of professional videography and photography experience at an agency, production company, in-house team or as a freelancer.
  • A portfolio showing a mix of documentary-style work, social media content, and scripted or commercial work.
  • Advanced command of shooting styles, cinematography and framing.
  • Advanced knowledge of camera technical specs, codecs and formats.
  • Experience shooting still photography on DSLR or mirrorless cameras.
  • Strong storytelling instincts.
  • Proven ability to execute someone else's creative vision while adding your own craft and ideas.
  • Solid understanding of location audio, including onboard mics and lavs.
  • Solid editing skills in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, including color grading. Editing isn't part of your day-to-day, but you'll need it to solve problems in post.
  • Comfort directing real people on camera, including non-actors in interviews.
  • Organized and self-directed, with the ability to juggle several projects on tight timelines.
  • Clear, direct communication and strong collaboration, leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel about 50% of the time (10–12 days per month).
  • Drone operation: An FAA Part 107 drone certification

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in construction, engineering or the trades
  • Motion graphics experience (After Effects or similar)
  • Scriptwriting or copywriting experience
  • Experience creating content for social platforms, including vertical formats
  • Spanish-speaking skills
How You Work / Culture Fit:
  • You live and breathe video. You have a real love for the craft.
  • You can build rapport quickly with people and ask questions that get to the real story, whether it's an operator on a jobsite or an executive leader. You have a journalist's urge to get an intentional, fully formed story out of every interview.
  • You're familiar with shooting outdoors, and ideally love it, capturing the action and grit of working jobsites.
  • You’re joyful and grounded. You get serious work done and can laugh while doing it.
  • You think critically and have a deep curiosity to understand. You consider the audience, objective, content, and constraints — not just aesthetics — and use critical thinking to arrive at the right solution.
  • You have a “get it done, do it well” mentality. You care deeply about craft while understanding that great agency work also requires speed, resourcefulness, sound judgment, and follow-through.
  • You take ownership. When you encounter a problem, your instinct is to investigate, ask the right questions, propose a solution, and move the work forward rather than wait for someone else to tell you what to do.
  • You have high standards without being precious. You notice the details and want the work to be excellent, while remaining receptive to feedback, adapting quickly, and knowing when the work is ready to move forward.
  • You’re dependable and collaborative. Your team can trust you to communicate proactively, manage your commitments, raise concerns early, and contribute positively to a fast-moving team.
  • You love collaborating with creatives, producers and editors. You know the whole production process from start to finish and enjoy every part of it.
  • You want to grow into a Video Director who sets a vision, leads others and makes an impact.

Our Approach to AI

At FieldWrk, AI is an assistant — not the strategist or creator. We use it to conduct research, explore directions, generate references, refine presentations, and speed up shallow-work tasks so we can focus on concept, craft, and execution.

FieldWrkers are expected to use AI intentionally and critically. Submitting unedited AI-generated writing, relying on AI for concept development, or skipping the thinking behind the work is not acceptable.

AI Submission Note* AI is a great tool that can help structure thoughts, and we know it can provide complete responses to job postings. For this application, your final submission must be written in your own words and voice.

Our mission to help hardworking people reach their full potential starts with our team. We bring together branding and marketing experts who care deeply about the industries we serve, and invest in developing their talents through collaboration, mentorship, benefits, and a team culture unlike any other.
