Job summary

Voith Group's Voith Paper division in Appleton, WI, seeks a Sr. Field Service Technician to install fiber systems equipment, support sales opportunities, and repair equipment at customer sites.

You will join the Service & Sales Department and travel regularly within North America, with occasional international trips as needed. The ideal candidate has extensive field service experience in the paper industry, strong mechanical aptitude, ability to read drawings, and proven customer-relations

Qualifications

• Extensive field service experience in the paper industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and controls.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and bill of materials.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for customer relations.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe work environment in field operations.
• Perform fieldwork at customers' mill sites, supervised or unsupervised.
• Coordinate with customer personnel for onsite work.
• Set up and coordinate sales calls to new and existing customers.
• Collaborate with Voith Sales Team on opportunities.
• Install fiber systems equipment and parts at customer sites.
• Prepare service reports, time records, and expense forms.
• Travel frequently within North America; occasional international travel.
• Deliver installation support and in-house technical assistance as needed.

Summary:

The "Field Service Technician II" is a member of the Service & Sales Department working under the direction of the manager of the MW micro-enterprise business reporting under the Service business. The Field Service Technician II is responsible to install equipment at customer site, assist with sales opportunities, and repair equipment in our Voith facility.

Responsibilities :

• Provide a safe work environment in the field, to heighten safety awareness amongst all Field Service Technicians
• Perform work, supervised and unsupervised, in the field at customers' mill site
• Collaboration with customer personnel planning onsite work
• Set up and coordinating sales calls to new and existing customers
• Collaborate with the Voith Sales Team on all opportunities for business
• Provide solutions to customers
• Participate in installation related discussions, in house or at customer site
• Main responsibility is the installation of fiber systems equipment and parts
• Organize tools and parts needed for field service activities
• Follow up visits to complete any punch list items and complete the job for final acceptance by the customer
• Continually look for improvements in materials, methods, and tooling required to complete field service and repair activities
• If applicable, complete timely and accurate service reports, time records, and expense forms
• Conduct or participate in meetings with managers, co-workers, and / or customers
• Able to travel on a frequent basis within North America, occasional international travel will be required
• Perform other duties as assigned such as in-house technical assistance for customers

Requirements :

• High school degree in and/or related experience
• Associates Degree preferred
• 5+ years' experience with disc filter maintenance
• 2+ years' experience in industrial sales - preferably paper related
• Experienced in installation work in the paper industry, and ability to learn the details of a variety of fiber system equipment
• A good mechanical aptitude as well as basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulic and controls
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, control schematics and bills of materials
• Good communication skills, verbal, and written, with good customer relation skills
• Ability to operate independent of daily direction
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Construction experience in the paper or similar industry
• Excellent customer relations skills
• Ability to operate independent of daily direction, i.e. sees what needs to be done and does it
• Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and demands, makes things happen, gets results
• Good troubleshooting/problem solving skills
