Lucid Motors in Arizona is seeking a Senior Field Quality Engineer, Software Integration to lead software-field issues across contracted fleet vehicles, coordinating with software and systems teams to ensure reliability.
You will drive RCA, validate fixes, and orchestrate deployments, aiming to improve issue detection, reduce recurrence, and strengthen fleet uptime in a software-defined vehicle ecosystem.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering, software integration, field quality, systems engineering, vehicle integration, software validation, product quality, or a related technical discipline.
- BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience investigating software-related issues in production environments and driving root cause resolution across cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of embedded software systems, vehicle networks, cloud-connected services, diagnostics, and software deployment processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead investigations into customer-reported software concerns impacting contracted fleet vehicles, including vehicle functionality, connectivity, diagnostics, UIs, system interactions, performance degradation, and feature execution.
- Drive structured root cause investigations involving vehicle software, cloud services, embedded controllers, system interfaces, diagnostics, telematics platforms, APIs, and fleet-management applications; validate corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- Evaluate interactions among vehicle systems, software modules, hardware components, cloud infrastructure, mobile apps, and third-party integrations to identify software integration failures and risks.
- Analyze fleet telemetry, software health metrics, diagnostic trouble codes, system logs, vehicle events, OTA installation data, and customer feedback to identify emerging software quality concerns.
- Partner with Software Engineering and Program teams to assess software-release readiness, quality risk, deployment strategy, rollback plans, and validation evidence.
- Coordinate vehicle testing, data collection, log analysis, simulation activities, software debugging, and issue reproduction to verify root causes and confirm corrective action effectiveness.
- Support escalation of critical software issues affecting fleet operations, provide technical assessments and remediation plans.

Connected, software-defined vehicles require seamless integration between hardware, embedded software, cloud services, vehicle diagnostics, fleet management systems, and customer-facing applications. For Lucid's contracted fleet programs, software performance, system stability, and deployment quality directly impact vehicle availability, customer experience, and operational success.
As a Senior Field Quality Engineer, Software Integration, you will serve as the Field Quality technical lead responsible for investigating, prioritizing, and resolving software-related customer issues affecting contracted fleet vehicles. You will drive cross-functional root cause investigations involving embedded software, vehicle controls, cloud services, telematics, diagnostics, over-the-air (OTA) updates, fleet applications, and vehicle-system integrations.
You will work closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Vehicle Integration, Service Engineering, Product Management, Data Analytics, and Fleet Operations teams to identify software failure modes, validate corrective actions, and ensure software releases achieve the required reliability and operational performance in the field.
Success in your first 12 months means improving software issue detection, reducing issue recurrence, accelerating root cause identification, increasing software-release quality, and strengthening fleet uptime through proactive quality management. - Software Field Issue Investigation: Lead investigations into customer-reported software concerns impacting contracted fleet vehicles, including vehicle functionality, connectivity, diagnostics, user interfaces, system interactions, performance degradation, and feature execution.
- Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions: Drive structured root cause investigations involving vehicle software, cloud services, embedded controllers, system interfaces, diagnostics, telematics platforms, APIs, and fleet-management applications. Validate corrective actions and ensure long-term prevention of recurrence.
- Software Integration Quality: Evaluate interactions among vehicle systems, software modules, hardware components, cloud infrastructure, mobile applications, and third-party integrations to identify software integration failures and systemic quality risks.
- Fleet Software Performance Monitoring: Analyze fleet telemetry, software health metrics, diagnostic trouble codes, system logs, vehicle events, OTA installation data, and customer feedback to identify emerging software quality concerns before wide-scale customer impact.
- OTA Release Readiness: Partner with Software Engineering and Program teams to assess software-release readiness, quality risk, deployment strategy, rollback plans, validation evidence, and fleet impact prior to production deployment.
- Field Validation & Issue Reproduction: Coordinate vehicle testing, data collection, log analysis, simulation activities, software debugging, and issue reproduction efforts to verify root causes and confirm corrective action effectiveness.
- Technical Escalation Management: Support the escalation of critical software issues affecting fleet operations, vehicle availability, safety, customer satisfaction, or business objectives. Provide technical assessments, risk evaluations, containment recommendations, and resolution plans.
- Data-Driven Quality Analysis: Leverage vehicle telemetry, cloud analytics, customer feedback, service records, software performance indicators, and field data to identify trends, measure issue severity, and prioritize engineering actions.
- Cross-Functional Problem Resolution: Work directly with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Vehicle Integration, Product Management, Service Engineering, Field Quality, Warranty Engineering, and Fleet Operations teams to drive rapid issue closure.
- Software Corrective Action Validation: Develop validation plans and success criteria to confirm software fixes, configuration changes, feature updates, and deployment improvements effectively resolve identified issues.
- Fleet Operational Readiness: Support contracted fleet operations by ensuring software updates, diagnostic tools, release documentation, service instructions, and technical communications are aligned with deployment plans and operational requirements.
- Quality Feedback Loop: Ensure field learnings, customer feedback, issue trends, and failure analyses are translated into improved software requirements, release processes, validation strategies, and quality standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve software quality monitoring, deployment processes, issue detection methodologies, fleet diagnostics, and release governance to increase fleet reliability and customer satisfaction.
- 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering, software integration, field quality, systems engineering, vehicle integration, software validation, product quality, or a related technical discipline.
- BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience investigating software-related issues in production environments and driving root cause resolution across cross‑functional teams.
- Strong understanding of embedded software systems, vehicle networks, cloud‑connected services, diagnostics, and software deployment processes.
- Experience analyzing system logs, diagnostic data, telemetry, software traces, and performance metrics to identify software failure mechanisms.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycles, release management processes, software validation, and defect management systems.
- Experience working with software, systems, and hardware engineering teams to resolve complex integration issues.
- Strong knowledge of structured problem‑solving methodologies including 8D, RCCA, Fishbone Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and data‑driven root cause investigation techniques.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management, prioritization, and cross‑functional coordination skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job‑related communications.
- Experience with automotive software systems, software‑defined vehicles, connected vehicles, or EV architectures.
- Experience working with vehicle diagnostics, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, UDS, DTC analysis, telematics, and fleet monitoring platforms.
- Familiarity with OTA update systems, cloud infrastructure, backend services, API integrations, and connected vehicle ecosystems.
- Experience supporting commercial fleets, mobility services, ride‑sharing platforms, autonomous vehicle programs, or large‑scale vehicle deployments.
- Knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and release governance frameworks.
- Experience working with telemetry analytics, data science teams, or large‑scale operational datasets.
- Familiarity with Automotive SPICE, cybersecurity requirements, or automotive software‑development processes.
- Understanding of electric vehicle systems, vehicle controllers, charging systems, thermal systems, ADAS, infotainment, and connectivity features.
- Experience supporting customer issue resolution, post‑launch quality management, or field performance monitoring.
This role is fully onsite at our Arizona Manufacturing Facilities and Offices in Phoenix, Casa Grande, and Coolidge. Daily in‑person presence is required.
