Sr. Federal Compliance Consultant - Federal Advisory (remote)

Position Overview

This remote position has a strong preference for candidates in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Optiv + ClearShark seeks a Sr. Federal Compliance Consultant to join the Federal Advisory team, focusing on cybersecurity compliance for federal and commercial clients. Responsibilities include leading advisory engagements, developing advisory services, thought leadership, and supporting sales activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead federal compliance engagements, supporting clients' business improvements.
  2. Manage engagements according to scope and standards.
  3. Mentor junior consultants and oversee deliverables.
  4. Engage with clients to understand requirements, policies, and compliance posture.
  5. Develop compliance strategies and roadmaps with clients.
  6. Assess compliance and recommend remediation actions.
  7. Address engagement issues promptly, escalating when necessary.
  8. Produce high-quality, responsive deliverables.
  9. Review and improve junior consultants' work.
Engagement Management
  1. Plan engagement activities, resources, and schedules.
  2. Monitor progress and report status.
  3. Escalate issues appropriately.
  4. Manage timecards and expenses.
  5. Identify areas for service improvement.
Client and Sales Engagement
  1. Build strong relationships with sales and clients.
  2. Lead pre-sales discussions.
  3. Conduct sales training on services.
  4. Gather feedback for service development.
Talent Development and Leadership
  1. Maintain and seek relevant certifications.
  2. Mentor junior staff and identify training opportunities.
  3. Contribute to thought leadership (blogs, social media, workshops).
  4. Stay updated on federal compliance changes.
  5. Refine operational procedures.
  6. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of identity management, incident response, networking security, zero trust.
  • Experience with classified environments preferred.
  • Deep understanding of governance and compliance (FAR, DFARs, RMF, FCI, CMMC).
  • Knowledge of FedRAMP and IL constructs.
  • Cybersecurity assessment experience highly desirable.
  • Certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CMMC RP/RPA/CCA/CCP are a plus.
  • Leadership, communication, problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Salary Range

$131,500.00 - $180,000.00 annually, with potential bonuses. Compensation factors include experience, education, location, and market conditions.
