Job summary

QuantumScape Corporation in California seeks a Sr. Facilities Technician to help build out a world-class R&D and pilot-production facility.

Qualifications

• Proven lab R&D or manufacturing facilities experience.
• Technical degree (2–4 years) required.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.
• Experience with CMMS, BMS/BAS, and AutoCAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-shift contact for building issues (climate control, odors, spills, repairs).
• Supervise contractor performance and coordinate with vendors to ensure work meets specs.
• Act as project coordinator for large and small facility projects.
• Solicit bids and quotes from vendors.
• Monitor and replace lighting as needed.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs.
• Coordinate department and employee moves.
• Perform basic electrical work and escalate to electrician when needed.
• Execute maintenance tasks per facilities manager.
• Process work orders in the CMMS system.
• Monitor building automation to ensure equipment runs smoothly.
• Collaborate with EH&S to maintain a safe workplace and manage hazardous waste programs.
• Work with maintenance teams on facility and manufacturing/R&D projects.
• Must have knowledge in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety, hazardous waste, EH&S, and PM.
• Experience in lab R&D or manufacturing as Facilities/Maintenance Tech.

We are hiring a Sr. Facilities Technician to help build out a world-class R&D and pilot-production facility at QuantumScape. You will join a team charged with maintaining equipment and ensuring facility equipment uptime to help scale its operations to commercialize the company’s groundbreaking energy storage technology.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a contact while on shift for any building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies, and repairs)
• Supervises contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications
• May act as project coordinator for all size projects including large scale repair and new facility projects
• Solicits bids and quotes from vendors
• Monitors and replaces light bulbs in all assigned facilities, as needed
• Makes minor plumbing repairs, as necessary
• Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves
• Preforms basic electrical work and resolves when an electrician is required
• Performs maintenance duties as assigned by the facilities manager
• Carries out work orders in a timely manner per our computer maintenance management system
• Monitors the building automation system to ensure all facilities equipment is running without issues
• Works directly with EH&S team to ensure a safe workplace, manage fire life safety systems and hazardous waste programs
• Works with equipment maintenance team on projects regarding Facility and Manufacturing / R&D
• Must have knowledge in HVAC, commercial electricity, commercial plumbing, fire life safety, hazardous waste, EH&S, project management
• You have a proven experience in a lab R&D / Manufacturing environment as a Facilities Technician / Maintenance Technician or a technical degree from a 2-4 year program.

• You can use computer software, including Microsoft Office, CMMS, BMS, BAS, ALC, Microsoft Word & Outlook, Excel, Auto CAD preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time
• Must be able to utilize/view a PC and/or monitor
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Must be comfortable and able to work on a ladder of 20 feet
• Must be able to work independently without direct supervision

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate range for this role has a midpoint of $45.57/hr, however, a final rate will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background.
