Job summary

Avantor is seeking a skilled Fabrication Mechanic to fabricate and modify fixtures, machinery, and fittings. You will lay out, cut, fit, measure, and weld various metals following drawings and SOPs

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 5+ years of relevant experience, and welding certifications (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW) are a plus. Strong layout, machining, pipefitting and reading engineering drawings are important for success at Avantor.

Qualifications

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Fabrication Mechanic responsible for fabrication work, including but not limited to cutting, welding, sheet metal work, metal finishing, and machinery assembly.

What we’re looking for:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required.
• Additional Qualifications: Welding certifications are a plus. Welding (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW), sheet metal work, pipefitting, plumbing, machining (mill, lathe), engineering drawing interpretation, equipment repair troubleshooting, heavy machinery rigging (>1000 lb.), basic math, and geometry.

The Fabrication Mechanic can fabricate/modify increasingly complex fixtures, machinery, and miscellaneous fittings. Fabrication will involve laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring, and welding various metals and other materials to create the desired object or system. The Fabrication Mechanic is knowledgeable, or increasingly develops knowledge, in welding standards to create the desired outcome of engineering projects and follows standard operating procedures. The Fabrication Mechanic works from increasingly complex drawings, blueprints, manuals, and verbal/written instructions for installation, repair, replacement, and/or maintenance involving machinery, plumbing & pipes, and, in some cases, electrical. The Fabrication Mechanic has increasingly developed equipment troubleshooting skills and, under limited supervision, troubleshoots and repairs problems on machinery, process equipment, and facility systems and components. The Fabrication Mechanic will also initiate purchase orders for parts, machines, or contracted services. The Fabrication Mechanic is increasingly self-motivated and proactive in identifying and correcting mechanical and safety issues.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $57,500.00 - $92,575.00. Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
