Job summary

Avantor is seeking a Fabrication Mechanic to perform fabrication work including cutting, welding, sheet metal, and machinery assembly. Requires high school diploma and 5+ years of experience; welding certs are a plus. Expect welding per GTAW/SMAW/GMAW/FCAW, pipefitting, machining, and reading drawings.

On-site role in the Bakersfield area with pay range listed. Responsibilities include laying out, fitting, measuring, welding, troubleshooting, and procuring parts for projects while upholding

Responsibilities

• Fabricate/modify increasingly complex fixtures, machinery, and fittings; lay out, cut, fit, measure, and weld metals.
• Follow welding standards to meet project outcomes and SOPs.
• Work from complex drawings, blueprints, manuals, and instructions for installation, repair, or maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair problems on machinery, process equipment, and facility systems.
• Initiate purchase orders for parts, machines, or contracted services.
• Identify and correct mechanical and safety issues with increasing self-motivation.

• The Fabrication Mechanic can fabricate/modify increasingly complex fixtures, machinery, and miscellaneous fittings. Fabrication will involve laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring, and welding various metals and other materials to create the desired object or system.
• The Fabrication Mechanic is knowledgeable, or increasingly develops knowledge, in welding standards to create the desired outcome of engineering projects and follows standard operating procedures.
• The Fabrication Mechanic works from increasingly complex drawings, blueprints, manuals, and verbal/written instructions for installation, repair, replacement, and/or maintenance involving machinery, plumbing & piping, and, in some cases, electrical.
• The Fabrication Mechanic has increasingly developed equipment troubleshooting skills and, under limited supervision, troubleshoots and repairs problems on machinery, process equipment, and facility systems and components.
• The Fabrication Mechanic will also initiate purchase orders for parts, machines, or contracted services.
• The Fabrication Mechanic is increasingly self-motivated and proactive in identifying and correcting mechanical and safety issues.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$52,000.00 - $83,950.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
