3RD AVE is seeking an experienced Senior Experiential 3D Spatial Designer & Environmental Graphic Designer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys contributing throughout the entire lifecycle of a project—from concept development and presentation through fabrication and installation.

As an integrated design and fabrication company, our designers work closely with Project Managers, Technical Designers, Fabricators, Scenic Artists, Print Production, and Installation teams to bring ideas to life. This collaborative approach allows our designers to see their work move beyond renderings and presentations into fully realized experiences.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong balance of creativity and execution. They are equally comfortable creating compelling environments and presentation decks as they are preparing production artwork, coordinating with Technical Design, and supporting the build process. Success in this role comes from understanding that exceptional experiential design requires both creative vision and attention to execution.

Our projects range from fast-turn activations and touring experiences to large-scale campaigns and permanent installations exceeding seven figures in value. We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a highly collaborative team and takes pride in seeing projects through to completion.

The successful candidate will:
  • Develop spatial concepts, layouts, and visual storytelling for experiential campaigns and environments.
  • Build polished client-facing presentations and decks.
  • Create accurate 3D models and renderings.
  • Prepare production-ready graphic files and environmental graphics.
  • Coordinate with Technical Designers to align creative intent with build documentation.
  • Support fabrication packages through finish schedules, graphics callouts, and installation details.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Fabrication, Scenic, Print Production, and Installation teams to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Participate in projects from early concept through final installation.
ResponsibilitiesSpatial Design & Creative Development
  • Lead the design and layout of experiential campaigns, exhibits, theme park environments, branded activations, museums, and retail spaces.
  • Create spatial concepts, blocking studies, and detailed 3D models using SketchUp.
  • Produce high-quality renderings for client presentations and internal reviews.
  • Develop compelling visual storytelling and customer experiences.
Presentation & Deck Development
  • Build sophisticated client-facing presentations, pitch decks, and design narratives.
  • Translate ideas into polished visuals that communicate strategy, design intent, and production feasibility.
  • Support internal reviews and client presentations.
Graphic Design & Production Artwork
  • Develop environmental graphics, branding applications, and signage systems.
  • Prepare print-ready artwork and large-format production files.
  • Coordinate with internal print production and external vendors as required.
  • Maintain graphic standards and version control throughout production.
Fabrication Support & Coordination
  • Work closely with Technical Designers to ensure creative models align with engineering and build drawings.
  • Update fabrication decks with finishes, vinyl placement, prop callouts, and graphics specifications.
  • Collaborate with Fabrication, Scenic, CNC, and Installation teams to maintain design intent through execution.
  • Participate in problem‑solving and design reviews throughout fabrication and installation.
Project Execution
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Support projects from concept through final installation.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and accelerated schedules.
  • Occasionally support major project pushes requiring evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of professional experience in experiential design, environmental graphic design, exhibit design, themed entertainment, architecture, retail environments, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and supporting campaigns, events, or installations exceeding $1 million in project value.
  • Advanced proficiency in SketchUp with the ability to create accurate models and spatial layouts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including:
  • Illustrator
  • Photoshop
  • InDesign
  • Experience creating high-quality renderings using V‑Ray (preferred).
  • Strong experience developing client‑facing presentation decks and visual storytelling materials.
  • Experience preparing print‑ready artwork and production files for large‑format graphics and fabrication applications.
  • Strong understanding of scale, spatial planning, environmental graphics, and customer flow.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both creative and technical teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to execution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within an experiential agency, exhibit house, fabrication company, or themed entertainment environment.
  • Familiarity with fabrication methods, materials, scenic finishes, and installation processes.
  • Understanding of construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience collaborating with fabrication shops and installation crews.
  • Knowledge of large‑format printing, environmental graphics, and signage production.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Rhino, Enscape, Twinmotion, or similar software.
  • Experience presenting work to clients and internal stakeholders.
